Jores Okore

Hutton should be back though.

Cissohko Clark Okore Hutton for Southampton. There is no way he wont pick him

I can understand easing him in from his injury... however Nzogbia and Benteke were practically straight in. Okore is young and probably lost a lot of confidence after the injury. So its a difficult one.

Knowing us we will sell him for 1 million and he will become the greatest defender of the modern era!

Just play him Paul. Lets see what hes got.

This is Paul Lambert we are talking about. There is every chance that he'll put someone like Lowton in there instead.

that is a totally stupid thing to say and he needs to grow up

even though i want him to be played ahead of Clark and Baker, he has no right to walk into the team after the injury he has suffered and the wealth of Premiership experience he doesn't have.

To be fair he said he wants to fight a place in the team first and foremost. He's been back in training since April and has not played a game for Villa for 14 months, so hardly surprised he wouldn't rule out a move in the transfer window, for his own good. Especially since he has been playing since pre-season and in international games for the past 3 months. When your seeing players like Clark (who are playing poor), continually getting the squad ahead of him. He came to Villa to play, not be 5th choice. He's played well in all his competative appearances for Villa so far, and worked hard to overcome his injury, so deserves a chance. Playing well internationally too, kept a clean sheet and captained Denmarks U21's against Italy today.

idiot... what a stupid time to go to the press with statements like this...

he must be in line to play with vlaar, baker and senderos struggling to be fit, so what's the point in going public with a threat (veiled or otherwise) like this...

can't these guys simply go and talk to their managers - I just don't get the need to speak to the press about things that should be between the club and them....

So he is fit, but isn't good enough at the moment. Can't be any clearer than that.

I hope it's only temporary, but it doesn't look good.

The view he's not good enough is held by a manager who has got very little correct over the last 12 months.
Maybe so, but Jores was terrible in that one outing I saw him in pre-season. After that, there's been no way to judge since he hasn't played.

Clearly he hasn't been able to get back to the form he was in before his injury. For whatever reason.

And how many players have been terrible this season (and last) and still get a run of games?

To be fair, you don't just change centre backs every week though do you?

Remember, we still have Herd, Lowton, and potentially even have Cissoko play centerback.

If Vlaar, Senderos, and Baker are out for this weekend and Okore isn't given minutes, Okore's confidence will probably be destroyed.

1000th post!

Anyway, if Okore doesn't play this weekend, his time with us really is over. That would make him 6th choice at best. The combination of circumstances - injuries to three ahead in the pecking order - just will not be repeated more than once a season. What's more, for a non-specialist like Lowton or Herd or Richardson to take the role is tantamount to saying Okore could be trusted under no circumstances whatsoever. I can easily see someone playing ahead of him, but don't be confused about what that means if it does happen.

The debate over whether Okore is 3rd, 4th, 5th or 10th choice CB is a bit silly imo. The guy has been recovering from a career-threatening injury. I doubt anyone at the club has decided where in the pecking order to put him. By this time next week he could be 1st choice.

It's a very bad injury, but in this day and age it's an injury most players recover from if they do their rehab properly (which he finished some months ago). He'd been deemed fit enough to train since March/April. Remember some people were hoping he'd even get some game time at the end of last season. Benteke's injury was potentially career threatening (well at least career hampering), but he was thrown in quite quickly. Okore been training and then playing for about 7 months now. He's been captaining Denmarks U21's, playing 90 minutes and playing the odd game for the full national team since the start of the season. Not to mention playing matches for Villa during pre-season. He's seemed fine and played very well yesterday when he captained & kept a clean sheet vs Italy's U21's in Italy.

From what PL said it sounds like Okore has not impressed in training.  A shame as I was and still am really excited about him playing for us. I would be gutted if he left.  It would be another step closer to me not giving a crap about Villa anymore.
