Stevo985 Posted June 5, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted June 5, 2013 England really arent that much better than Ireland. England have struggled vs Poland, Ukraine and Montenegro teams aon same level as Ireland The difference between England and Ireland is bigger than the difference between England and Spain. and before you no doubt bring up a meaningless friendly result, remember that England have beaten Spain, Italy and Brazil in the past 18 months, so it realy don't mean much. I guess you beat him to it. Isn't that the point?
dont_do_it_doug.
have to agree, no English player gets the same hype they did 3/4 years ago. It mainly stopped by media after Germany trashed them in World Cup. Only 1 player has got the hype and been labelled as world class in last year by media and that was Wiltshire after the Brazil game And he has genuine potential. The influx of foreign players particularly over the last 4/5 years has removed the white and red coloured spectacles somewhat. Not just from the noses of the press but the fans alike. Once upon a time we had Arsenal and their merry foreign legion. Now they're all at it.

A frequent lament here in Ireland is how few of our players play for the top teams in England these days, I'd presume that its the same for Scotland & Wales. But looking at England 2/3 years down the line and the last of England's current 30 somethings retire. How many up and coming English players will be first team regulars in the future at the like's of Chelsea or Man City or other CL aspirant teams? Not many by the looks of it.
