By summery I mean inoffensive pop, that (to young ears at least) is foreign sounding, and therefore exotic, from a land where the sun is perpetual, perhaps. This is a very good example I remember singing this one on holiday with my cousin. Every time we sang 'it's in muh face!' we'd get right up on to each others faces and shout it.
