Last time I went was the corresponding fixture last season, when they were in the second leg of the playoff semis against Nuneaton Boro, 1-1 from the first leg - and lost 1-0. This time they were in an identical situation, but against Halifax Town (remember them?) - 1-1 from the first leg again (having drawn both of their league fixtures against them by the same score). They lost 2-0, in a pretty one-sided game. Players in the bar afterwards looking VERY dejected. Luckily they don't seem to have twigged that I'm the jinx. Can't say my mind was entirely on the game, as I was with a fellow Villa fan and we kept nipping back into the bar to check on the Villa score on the TV (and top up our beer levels). When Gabby's winner went in we caused every head in there to turn as we cheered and jumped up and down. Cue more beer.
