Strong rumour they are going to give the gig to O'Shea...because you would want the symbol, captain and one of the biggest reasons for their fall into the abyss now running the asylum. God help them.

No way...That is just beyond stupid and lazy.

Sunderland also interested in O'Neill of Northern Ireland. What's odds he comes in for game vs us and lifts Sunderland

Doubt they'll appoint anyone before they play us. Stockdale is in charge for Saturday's game and would imagine that would stay the same for our game.

What is going on at that club? It's been two and a half weeks since they sacked Grayson. They had an international break to get someone in. Either literally no one wants the job, Sunderland are being way too picky, or they are trying to cut costs by appointing someone really cheap.

If they get beaten with ease on weekend then they could rush an appointment. I wouldnt be so sure about that...

Ally McCoist is just a comedian isn't he? He'd be practicing stand up in the dressing room so don't really see how a squad could take him seriously.

He didn't even manage Rangers in the SPL so limited top level experience so he'd be as bad as O'Shea.

Ian Botham, Bill Beaumont and Sue Barker in as part of his backroom team?

Mcoist managed rangers in the spl, he even had a 15 point lead over celtic at onepoint, then they went months without winning and celtic over took them thenrangers went into administration

Ah fair enough, thought he was put in charge when they dropped into the third division.

That would be one of the worst decisions in the history of football.

He took over when Walter Smith left, mccoist then failed to get through the champions league knock out qualifiers against malmo and then failed in the Europa qualifiers as well, against maribor, this contributed to administration as they were banking on money from playing in Europe, the fact mccoist then managed them to 15 point lead in the league then lose it shows his calibre of management

What would a good appointment for Sunderland actually look like? They're basically unmanageable, it seems to me.

People said that about us too. A lot can change in football, but currently they are in turmoil

We needed a change of ownership and a clearout of the trash in the squad, and even then we still haven't got rid of money-draining disasters like Gabby and Richards.

What I mean is, what would a good manager look like, with the squad they have now? Do they need a disciplinarian? A foreign whizz-kid? A hoofball merchant? Someone making a step up? Someone making a return to management from a long period without a club? I just can't see a 'type' that would be successful.

Chris Coleman has resigned as Wales manager and is expected to take the job.

He must be absolutely off his tits.

Or fancy a nice pay day.

In the circumstances that's a coup for Sunderland.

Can't understand Coleman's thinking though, he was on the other day about having ambitions to manage in the champions league (yeah stay with me) and said he'd have to go abroad to do that.

When you think about it jobs like Swansea and West Brom will probably come up before xmas.

Very odd.
