AVFCforever1991
Would rather have Laursen back... Edited March 3, 2013 by AVFCforever1991
VillanousOne
Take him back purely for his ability in the dressing room to get the others up for it is that the dressing room at the strip club? *bows*
AndyM3000
No. He was average first time round when he was supposedly fit and certainly younger. Some people must have been desperate for a cult hero to celebrate that **** overpaid waster. He scored almost 50 goals in 132 games and I doubt they were all starts. Id say he was a lot better than average, Benteke reminds me a lot of what Carew did for us when was on form, both are unplayable on their day but it was consistency that was lacking. CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Sure, if only to give my name some relevance.
ozvillafan Posted March 3, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted March 3, 2013 Replace Benteke or Wiemann with an unfit, old player who blew hot and cold when he was in his prime? No.
coda
I miss how Carew would applaud the fans singing his name mid-game.
the_eristic
Even if he didn't play too much, it'd be nice to have a well-regarded and experienced head with a seemingly genuine affection for the club in the squad. We need a few around for the young'uns.
Spoony
I'd take him back...and Laursen...and Mellberg. Who cares if they're past it, it's not like we win anyway
danceoftheshamen
Well if we did get relegated & lost Benteke then he could do some damage at that level.
Cliffy Biro
I love carew, some genuinely fantastic memories of the guy at villa but he was past it years ago so lets just leave it as that.
maqroll
I'd take Kevin Phillips back before John Carew.
Stevo985 Posted March 4, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted March 4, 2013 He said himself he wouldn't be fit until the season was already over, so it's a moot point
HeyAnty
From what i saw of Bentekke against Arsenal, Carew couldnt do any worse.
Pelle
Another one who loved the man but wouldn't take him back now. I just can't believe that Inter actually were interested in signing him. Let's just save the memories and let him go on with his life.
briny_ear
Anyone notice he had a front page news story on the OS the other day? http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3096055,00.html
