tomaspg
we got 3D printers we can use for free at the university, pretty cool machines indeed! These days im pretty sure you can print objects in harder materials than just plastic. ive seen machines you can buy for around £1000, id be well tempted to buy one if i had that spare money lying around. sooner or later i think we will se them popping up everywhere including in our homes. Instead of going down to the shop you should just be able to download a model and print whatever it was you wanted to buy in your living room, no need for some underage kid in china to put your nike's together and then stick em on a boat from one continent to the next. The ammount of money/time/pollution that could be saved is pretty impressive
