Shiny
Holman is just Mcleish through and through, no talent whatsoever. IF, and that's a big IF, you need to take a player off, which watching the game N'zogbia didn't seem to be tired in any way, IRELAND? at least he has some sort of discernible skill
Bunnski
Today really exposed our need for a beast of defensive midfielder. Lambert has no quality options on the bench apart from Ireland and Bent and Ireland is shit so its extremely hard for him to make changes to help us when we are under pressure but to all the fickle lot go ahead and attack the manager as per usual... Zog motm just a pity he ran himself out Edited January 19, 2013 by Bunnski
TwirlyDoors
We took a point away from home, we are out of the bottom three. Benteke, Agbonlahor, and N'Zogbia looked good. Bennett played well. It was good to have Vlaar back. It was unlucky to lose Baker so early, may have helped on the set peices we are vunerable on. I don't think we had a lot of choice with the subs. Overall, a point would have been good at the start, but we are out of the bottom 3 today.
Nabby
Totally **** off ... However with other results and given WBA home form it could of been worse but NEED to beat Newcastle
will87
I wonder how many goals this team would need to be ahead by at HT to end up winning the game, four? five?
Ponky
Zog showed today that he can be the key to us staying up. After two seasons of naff-all he really showed some fight today, and he could do for us what he did for Wigan a few seasons back.

Hanky
People moaning about the subs obviously did not watch the game. Delph and Baker were hurt. No choice what to do. Nzogbia has not played a full 90 since he had been a Villa player. I am positive if we did not have to take off Delph and Baker, Bent would have made an appearance because it is becoming plainly obvious Benteke is also not a full 90 player. Agree with Delph and Baker but not N'Zogbia. N'Zogbia played the full 90 against Bradford and a large portion of the game against Ipswich and Southampton. To take off our main attacking threat was ridiculous, and quite frankly clueless decision.
R.Bear
We score that chance at 2-0, we cruise to a routine victory. That's football.
Moderator OutByEaster? Posted January 19, 2013 Moderator Share Posted January 19, 2013 How many times do we have to hear, if we play like that we will be ok after we play like that and are not ok? After today, we're 17th - you don't get relegated in 18th so in the context of our season, that's okay - ergo, if we play like today we'll be okay. GNeeUs
Paul Lambert needs to get the lads in first thing tomorrow and play them Coach Carter. Then he needs to get a fitness expert in to get these players able to run for 90 minutes +. N'Zogbia hats off, thought he was fantastic. Bannan and Holman have no place in a Premier League team! Jimzk5
The Lichaj chance was the turning point for me, conceding early in the second half was innevitable, as was the equiliser from a corner. We have been **** woeful at defending set peices for 3 years now, even the master of defensive football mcleish couldnt sort ot out. We've had Young dunne collins warnock Hutton dunne collins warnock Lowton vlaar Clarke Bennett Lichaj baker clark Stephens And lots of variations of a back four for 3 seasons now, and we've been **** shit at defending no matter who we play, it can only be pyschological that we are so bad at defending corners, and we never do anything when we win a corner. jackbauer24
You got the feeling that WBA almost knew it would be easy to beat us. In fact they were over-confident and that's what let us escape with a draw. We should all be bloody ecstatic! Once they stepped it up, like we all knew they would in the second half, it was always going to be a case of when, not if, they scored. That took less than five minutes and then it was inevitable it was going to be all WBA in the second half. The possession statistics in the second half would be embarrassing. From the 50th minute we were hanging on for any points and were lucky to leave with one. As for it's reflection on our league survival battle and any positives; we are bobbing around the trapdoor and will remain there until we add some steel to our midfield. If we don't do that we will spend the remainder of the season between 19th and 17th. Unfortunately I think we're going to come up just short and finally say goodbye to the Premier League. However, positives - Vlaar gives the side more confidence, and the fans, NZogbia looks like he might be up for the fight and Benteke can always score a blinder. This has kept us in the fight. Newcastle is far more important. Lose and we're down. I would have happily lost this game if we could have drawn with Southampton - it's far more important to be taking points off your rivals. We'll probably be out of both cups by the time we play our next league match so we'll have no distractions to try and scrape over the line. But I'm not optimistic. foreveryoung
It shows we are 2 maybe 3 players away from mid table. Bannan is finished for me, Ireland should have come on instead of useless Holman and he needs to bring Warnock back in for Bennet, his not Premiership quality just yet
TRO
Not sure how you can go from the sublime to the ridiculous in the space 90 minutes. We were clearly on top in the first half. This problem we have is not confidence.... we simply can't defend. Chris waddle on ESPN said "Villa are a good side when you give them time and space, when you don't they faulter badly" This team needs to address the defensive side of its game.... with the ball we look half decent without it we look woeful.....Their second goal we were all hding behind each other in the box, it was shocking. That was definately 2 points dropped. We would all have taken a point before the game, but you can't keep thinking like that when you are in a winning position. seems like we need to score 6 to be sure of 3 points.
