The 20-year-old is expected to travel to Merseyside early next week for a medical and Liverpool will need to apply for a work permit before the deal can be completed. He is just 20 years old and they must have concluded he is not going to make it for whatever reason. 10 games (out of 21) this season, 7 as a substitute and 2 where he was subbed out as well. On the other hand Ireland had shown he could cut in the PL and was still a waste of money. In terms of exposing the club to risk Coutinho is a bigger liability than Ireland was.
