Troglodyte Posted December 26, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted December 26, 2012 I think that Lambert is quite good tactically, but was found out against Chelsea. Most of our players on that day were absolutely awful, but there's certainly not a lack of effort and we've already seen that many of them do have genuine talent. I'm fully behind Lambert and the squad but don't expect anything out of today's game. I'd very much like us to actually compete though!
rjenkins
This is going to be brutal if you ask me. I think Chelsea game will have set us back quite a bit and facing another good, attacking team straight after a result like that is going to be very tough. 0-3 Edited December 26, 2012 by rjenkins
BleedClaretAndBlue
All results going are way atm. Could do with City and Utd winning though couldnt we

He sets the team up as he sees fit, if it works it works and if it doesn't **** it, i'll try something else next week seems to be his plan. Worst attack and worst defence in the league plus he has also used more players than anybody else in the league. It suggests to me he doesn't really know what his best team or formation is. His constant tinkering with line ups and formations isn't really paying off. It seems like luck/guesswork most of the time he gets a result. I've found Lambert to be frustrating at times as well I have to admit, but he doesn't have a huge amount to work with looking at our squad. I don't blame him for tinkering, because I have no idea what our best side is either. I do think we have about 5 or 6 genuinely good players and the rest are fairly good or worse. Guzan, Vlaar, Lowton, Westwood, Ireland and Benteke are the only ones I really rate.
momo
Don't forget Bent, Agbonlahor, Baker, Clark. Good spine.

BleedClaretAndBlue
Bennett's chance to make up for his abysmal start to his Villa career, cant understand how Ireland cant get in that team
daggy_333
Strange. Wonder what the formation is...
Daweii
I think Weimann must have had too much to drink yesterday or something as he's not even on the bench.
rjenkins
Don't forget Bent, Agbonlahor, Baker, Clark. Good spine. In fairness I've seen Clark and Baker have good games this season and last. I do think Gabby is on the wane though and I don't expect Bent to be here much longer.
AVFCforever1991
Weimann??? Must be injured, that is a real blow to our chances Edited December 26, 2012 by AVFCforever1991
rjenkins
Holman is playing in the Weimann role and it's the same 5-3-2 I would think then.
Kwan
Don't see this ending well with that lineup. Looks like he wants to clog the middle and have the wing backs attack. I'm sure Bale and Lennon will enjoy the space
BleedClaretAndBlue
Dreading watching this. Our side is such a joke.
Villa87
Surely he needed to change the formation! Bale and Lennon are going to have the space to damage us big time. Dreading this now. Think it might be another sound defeat looking at that formation! 3-1 Spurs.

gilbertoAVFC
That team is just terrible at Premier League level, although I've been saying that for weeks. Herd was shocking against Chelsea and looked knackered and yet he is persevered with. Badly need Vlaar back. Ireland should be walking into that side too. Villa87
Get the ball into Benteke's feet and get Holman around him. Need 100% and give Spurs no time what so ever on the ball. Who is on the bench?
KSV
Substitutes: Given, Bowery, Lichaj, Ireland, Carruthers, Bannan & Albrighton Id like to see Caruthers come on at some stage.
