And the point of that is? How does any of the above refute the idea that the silly 'reds under the bed' shite has limited, at best, relevance to this thread?

What utter crap. People aren't 'focussing upon them as the problem' - people are talking about them as a problem.

Perhaps people in this thread find it 'deeply annoying' that they have to counter the kind of crap about ' commie Russians'/'reds under the bed' that you routinely roll out in response to their concerns?

'Oh, right'.

I just threw an offhand trope in... not sure why you are getting so hung up on it.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been treated for pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most fatal forms of cancer, and although she's survived it before, given her age, and frailty, Trump's getting another Supreme Court nomination.

She should have resigned when Obama was in office. Imagine if her hubris leads to the undoing of her life's work.

It's a disgrace that such a position is a lifetime appointment.

One of the many ways in which the US is a gerontocracy.

Woman 'forced to give birth alone in jail cell while guards ignored her'

WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: Diana Sanchez claims staff at Denver County jail ignored her pleas for help before she gave birth in the prison cell

Shocking CCTV footage shows the moment a woman was forced to give birth in a prison cell by herself.

Lying on her back "on a cold hard bench, feet away from a toilet", Diana Sanchez is captured screaming in pain as she pushes the baby out.

The 26-year-old had been locked up in Denver County jail two weeks before on July 31, 2018 on identity-theft related charges.

Six hours before she gave birth to her son Jordan, Sanchez told guards that was going into labour, she claimed.

Over the course of the morning she told prison deputies and nurses "at least eight times" that she was experiencing contractions, a legal complaint alleges.

Despite the prison officials being aware of the incoming child she was left screaming in agony for hours without any anesthesia.

Moments after she gave birth a male nurse, who was allegedly standing outside the cell watching in, walks in and picks up the newborn son.

As Trump Escalates Trade War, U.S. and China Move Further Apart With No End in Sight

Quote

President Trump’s trade war with China entered new territory on Sunday as his next round of tariffs took effect, changing the rules of trade in ways that have no recent historic precedent and driving the world’s two largest economies further apart.

...

Mr. Trump continues to insist that his tariffs are hurting China but not the American companies that operate there. On Friday, he noted that American companies were leaving China in response to his tariffs, a development that put the United States in an “incredible negotiating position.” Any business that complained about financial pain from the tariffs were ignoring the obvious culprit for their troubles, he said.

“A lot of badly run companies are trying to blame tariffs,” he told reporters before heading to Camp David. “In other words, they’re run badly and they’re having a bad quarter or they’re just unlucky in some way. It’s not the tariffs. It’s called bad management.”

...

Each tariff increase has also taken the United States in the opposite direction from where trade policy had been pointing for decades. After years of trying to reduce tariffs and encourage free trade, the United States now has a higher average tariff rate with the rest of the world than many developing countries, including China, Russia and Turkey, said Torsten Slok, the chief economist at Deutsche Bank Securities.

Mr. Slok said that while it had not been a smooth path, average American tariff levels had been trending downward for 200 years.

“That is now what is being reversed, by tariffs moving up to a level that we haven’t seen in decades,” he said.

After days of claiming without evidence that Alabama was projected to be hit by Hurricane Dorian, President Donald Trump displayed an apparently doctored map in the Oval Office on Wednesday that showed Alabama to be within the storm's path.

The map Trump displayed was the same as a model produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration last week showing the hurricane's projected path cutting through central Florida — with one key difference. Where the original projection ended, a smaller, black circle that appeared to be drawn in Sharpie was produced to include Alabama in the model.

"We had actually our original chart that it was going to end up hitting Florida directly," Trump said, holding the map as he sat in the Oval Office Wednesday alongside Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan. "It was going to be hitting directly, that would have affected a lot of other states. But that was the original chart. It was going to hit not only Florida, Georgia, it was going toward the Gulf [of Mexico]. That was what was originally projected. And it took a right turn and ultimately, hopefully we're going to be lucky."

Here is the map Trump displayed:

The episode was the latest in a bizarre cycle where Trump has doubled and tripled down on including Alabama among the states he said was in the hurricane's path. It began Sunday morning when Trump tweeted: "In addition to Florida — South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated." By that point, the hurricane's path was projected to go up the East Coast, avoiding Alabama.

"Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever," he added. "Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!"

About 20 minutes later, the National Weather Service in Birmingham, Alabama, tweeted: "Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian.

Guess who sold Nuclear tech to the Saudis a couple of weeks after the Khashoggi murder?

The same person didn't mention it to Congress.

John Bolton sacked/resigned (depending on which one of them isn't lying).

The "American Conservative" had a piece yesterday saying Bolton was so distrusted, he wasn't allowed to see plans on Afghanistan unsupervised.

Good riddance.  A vile, deranged, extremely dangerous little man.

Is there a head count in this US administration? Feels like you're reading about someone leaving their job on a weekly basis.

The maps above reminds me of the press conference some US general had during the Kuwait/Iraq war in 91 (?), saw it on youtube. That was one funny conference. Dude had pHd in old school presentation. He also was impressive from what I recall. When he didn't know, he said he didn't know. Was the most non-bullshit straight up conference I've ever seen. A lot of politicans should take a note from him.

The rate of turnover among senior level advisers to President Trump has generated a great deal of attention. Below, we offer four resources to help measure and contextualize this turnover. The first set of resources tracks turnover among senior-ranking advisers in the executive office of the president (which does not include Cabinet secretaries), whereas the second set of resources tracks turnover in the Cabinet.

TURNOVER ON THE PRESIDENT’S “A TEAM”

President Trump’s “A Team” turnover is 77% as of Sept. 10, 2019

The following chart and table reflect turnover among the most influential positions within the executive office of the president. This data is compiled and tracked by Brookings Nonresident Senior Fellow Kathryn Dunn Tenpas, who refers to this group of advisers as the president’s “A Team.” The list of positions that make up the “A Team” is based on National Journal “Decision Makers” editions, and Dunn Tenpas’s methodology is described in detail in a report she published in January 2018. The chart and table below will be updated as additional members of the “A Team” depart their positions. It is important to note the following:

  • Because the “A Team” is made up of members of the executive office of the president, it does not include Cabinet secretaries.
  • The count for Donald Trump’s “Year 3” is ongoing.
  • Each position on the “A Team” is only counted once. If multiple people hold and depart from the same position (e.g., communications director), only the initial departure is tracked/affects the turnover rate.

I'm aware of Khashoggi's murder, and a quick google tells me Trump sold Nuclear tech to the Saudi's.

I'm still not able to get my head around your post though. Do you mean Trump didn't mention the assassination and the Nuclear tech to congress?

The Trump administration approved two nuclear technology transfers to Saudi Arabia after the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, according to Democratic lawmakers who reviewed documents related to the deals, which they oppose...

... authorizations, known as Part 810s, are required for U.S. companies to export nuclear technology or to help develop nuclear facilities or material in foreign countries. Under Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, the Energy Department has approved seven such agreements, with the first inked in December 2017.

While they're often open to public review, none of these seven have been. The administration said that's at the request of the companies involved in order to protect trade secrets, but it's unclear what trade secrets would be exposed by at least notifying Congress of deals' existence and agreement dates.
