An actual quote from Trump's rally in Virginia yesterday.

Quote

"You know what bothers me? I have people coming to me, some people in Congress 'sir, can you get this deal done immediately? It’s got to gestate, right? The word gestate. It’s like when you’re cooking a chicken. Time... Time... Turkey for Thanksgiving. My mother would say, "Oh, eight hours." I said, "Eight hours?" She made the greatest turkey I’ve ever had.

Then  after that, he got back on topic, and started talking about Hillary Clinton, and had his fans chant 'lock her up'.

He's still having rallies. He's still talking about Hillary. The election was 2 years ago.

It's about firing up his base for the Mid-terms, he desperately needs the GOP to be still in charge or he'll be impeached

Unfortunately it's remarkably effective.

I still expect Trump to never face any comeuppance. This after all is a country that has quite serious arguments that a sitting President can't be tried for a crime.

So not everything he says is bollocks then and even the Yanks can get the right message some of the time :thumb:

With Trump’s rap sheet he’s even madder to call out someone else as crooked.

It would send out a great message if he was dragged into court to explain himself (obviously won’t happen).

Yeah, but the bit about the American people "buying it" is the bit in your post that made me reply :)

Just because Trump is as dodgy as a £4 note doesn't mean everything he says is nonsensical. Just as his supporters would do well to remember that Hillary being 'crooked' doesn't make Trump an angel.

The Cohen developments edge things closer to impeachment. It might just be a porn star and not Russia that breaks him.

Not really, the Dems will try impeach regardless when they take the House, but as usual the 2/3 majority requirement renders this little more than political theatre.

A few important points heard on the news here this morn, somewhat lost in the tinder etc. rah rah rah reactions.

1) Attorney - client relationships are legally different than you and me. This point alone could invalidate much of this legal case.

2) Trump asking his legal representative to take care of a problem is a lot different than instructing said legal representative to break federal law. Typically, a client should have the reasonable expectation that his/her legal representative is knowledgeable enough to know what is and is not legal.

3) Cohen is up shit creak with perhaps a teaspoon and if he has anything worth spilling, he will. However he said, she said won't cut it.

Special Master has already ruled on what is and isn't privileged

Cohen has been charged and admitted guilt after this process

Lucky he happened to have a recording device handy.  This is going to get very interesting.

Yes, but the great excitement is with regards to Trump. My point is that aspect is much more complicated, and anything the DoJ etc. say can and will be challenged in court. They are not unbiased remember.

Apparently if Cohen would accept a pardon, all his finances would be taken from him and his family would be left penniless. This can still happen since he pleaded guilty, but he has a better chance at making a deal with prosecutors to keep his bank accounts versus the other way it's a guarantee.

And attorney-client privilege has a crime / fraud exception.  It is not a shield to be used by either the attorney or the client to pursue or cover up criminal activity.
