Yes, the NYT has done this one before.  It's a hospital, right?

Co-ordinates provided, as per normal - "Don't bomb the hospital"

Each was on a United Nations-sponsored “deconfliction list” meant to spare it from attack, according to the World Health Organization.

I'm all for the USA clearing out entirely from every country it's occupying, including Germany, Italy, Japan, Cuba, Panama, etc.

The way Trump has done it it foolish, dangerous and clearly corrupt as well. (Pending business deal in Istanbul)

Sad days for the US military who literally bombed it's own base in N. Syria while fleeing from the army it just dropped to it's knees for.

Total humiliation for our military and foreign service. Which is what Moscow has always sought.

Amazing days. Incredibly sad for the Kurdish people.

Another low point for the USA.

Oooooo.

I like Tulsi Gabbard and what she’s had to do to get where she’s got to shows how ingrained and rotten their system is. Maybe a year ago I read an in depth thing on it all. Truly staggering.

The story is from Bellingcat, and the video from the White Helmets.  These are not reliable sources.  And the NYT is famous for giving us the WMD line, let's remember.  It is alleged to clear stories with the US military and intelligence services.

The building is a bunker in an area controlled by al-Qaeda or one of the other often-rebranded groups.  The location means that the person writing the article didn't go there, and relies on information given by people operating under the wing of the group controlling the area.

Other underground facilities in areas recaptured from these groups have been found to have various uses, both military and also medical facilities for the fighters.  The inclusion of some medical facilities in such a place doesn't make it a hospital.

If it had been a hospital, which it doesn't seem to be, and was also used for other military purposes, then according to the US it's a fair target.  See for example a report on a bombing of an actual hospital, this.

United States-backed airstrikes launched Friday took out an Islamic State group headquarters located in a hospital in western Mosul, U.S. military officials said Saturday.

In a statement released Saturday, the U.S. task force in Iraq and Syria said IS militants had been using a building located within the Al Jumhuri medical complex in Mosul for the sole purpose of overseeing its operations in Iraq.

“ISIS continues to ignore the Law of Armed Conflict and uses protected sites such as hospitals, schools, and mosques to try and shield themselves from Coalition airstrikes,” the statement read using another acronym for Islamic State.

We’re you imagining that after all these years a hospital out there was a big white building with a coffee franchise and local campaign to remove parking charges?

Yes I was, and don't call me Shirley.

Gabbard seems to be supported by the (relatively small) group of Democrats who hated Clinton so much that they became Trump supporters.

I would have thought the murdering and destruction of foreign countries would have done that...
