Prom 27 on Wednesday 7th August is about SF film soundtracks.

Jed Kurzel - Alien: Covenant

Hans Zimmer - Interstellar

Mica Levi - Under the Skin

Clint Mansell - Moon

Steven Price - Gravity

John Murphy - Sunshine

Carly Paradis - The Innocents

Wendy Carlos - Tron (3 mins)

Louis and Bebe Barron - Forbidden Planet (3 mins)

Jóhann Jóhannsson - Arrival (8 mins)

Royal Albert Hall

What's surprising me is there's still tickets.

Had this been a John Williams, Goblin, Barry Gray, Ron Grainer and Delia Derbyshire type SF gig? I'm pretty sure  it would've sold out long since.

True Romance OST one of my favourites. Hans Zimmer playing a blinder with "You're So Cool"

'Gassenhauer' is from Carl Orff's Schulwerks, literally translates as school work. For children to play, to engage them with music.

It's been used in a lot of movies but True Romance is the first time I remember hearing it.

OT: "Coming Home in a Body Bag" 🤣

Edit: obvs Badlands was the 1st time. Doh!

Three by big hitters that weren't used in the films they were intended for.

Vangelis for 'Bladerunner'.

Ennio Morricone for 'The Thing'.  Tarantino did use it 3 decades later.

Lalo Schifrin for 'Dirty Harry'.

Coincidentally enough, three of my favourite ever soundtracks.

Listening to Daniel Lopatin's (Oneohtrix Point Never) score for Uncut Gems on youtube... I remember when he was releasing his music on cassettes and CDRs in editions of under an hundred, come a long way since then, at the time I didn't think his music was any better than a lot of other droney synth type stuff that was around at the time...
