NurembergVillan Posted December 2, 2012 Moderator Posted December 2, 2012 Unfortunate pic of the day: So this is Liam Ridgewell wiping his arse with £20 notes today at 10:42 am Did Liam Ridgewell never think for a second that this photo would somehow come back to haunt him in some way? The West Brom defender is going to have an awful lot of explaining to do after The Sun published a photo in this morning’s paper of Ridgewell wiping his behind with a fistful of £20 notes, with another handful of them scattered around his bathroom floor. Pic via The Sun It was sent into the red-top by a West Brom fan who unsurprisingly asked not to be named, but it’s fair to say that Ridgewell will have a good idea of who took the photo in the first place before it eventually ended up in the public domain. Who took the photo is not the issue here, of course, more that Ridgewell, who reportedly earns £20,000 a week, was stupid enough to have it taken in the first place and on becoming aware of it going public, he hastily apologised. “The photo was taken in the privacy of my home around eight months ago as a joke to wind up a mate, who I had just won a personal bet with,” Ridgewell said. “I only intended him to see the photo but now it’s public, I can understand how it will be viewed. I am sorry for any offence it causes.” A West Brom spokesman added: “This is a private issue for Liam that has become public. “It does not put the club in a good light and we will deal with the matter internally. Since Liam joined us 11 months ago, his conduct on club duty has been exemplary.” According to The Sun, a number of West Brom fans got wind – pardon the unfortunate pun – of the photo yesterday and were understandably not impressed that a player who they pay good money to go and see and who earns more in a week than many of them would in a year would flaunt it in such a disgusting manner. It’s a picture that sums up what a lot of people think is wrong with modern day football and the players that play the game – i.e. that they have more money than sense – and it’s safe to say that Ridgewell won’t be able to flush this image from his memory for quite some time. Talk about making an ass of himself. http://www.joe.ie/fo...notes-0031105-1
Dr_Pangloss Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 What a word removed, I hope someone breaks his leg.
PompeyVillan Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Meh, it was a personal joke, nothing wrong with it at all. 1
Stevo985 Posted December 2, 2012 VT Supporter Posted December 2, 2012 Yet another story about absolutely nothing. This is not news.
Dr_Pangloss Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 By the looks of it he was using his forearm to wipe his arse anyway...
Jimzk5 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 the sun making an opinion whilst sat on there high horse shocker. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4676674/liam-ridgewell-wipes-backside-with-20-pound-notes.html read the article they wrote things like "sick, infuriate hard working brits, sickening pose" wouldnt expect nothing else from britains favorite comic
mikeyp102 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Who really gives a shit? Ridgewell obviously
mikeyp102 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Pathetic story obviously a joke he was doing
Morley_crosses_to_Withe Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 I remember when Lee Hendrie used to light cigarettes with £50 notes. He's bankrupt now.
NurembergVillan Posted December 2, 2012 Author Moderator Posted December 2, 2012 I think the key thing here is that Ridge isn't ACTUALLY wiping his arse. He's pretending to.
TrentVilla Posted December 2, 2012 Moderator Posted December 2, 2012 Nothing but high jinks between friends. Not the smartest thing he has ever done but it was seemingly supposed to be a private picture between mates as part of a joke, someone has betrayed his confidence and for want of a better phrase dropped him in the shit. It is very very different to some of the very public conduct of footballers with either very different motivations or audiences. It is a world removed from burning £ notes to light cigars in front of a crowd of people for instance. Not smart but not something he should be lambasted for either. If I were his agent I'd be whispering in his ear that donating the winnings from his bet to a local charity would have been a sensible thing to do when this story broke.
The_Rev Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 It's just unusual to see a picture of Ridgewell where he isnt conceding a penalty. 2
Demitri_C Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 I thought women only spent their money on shit?
blunther Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Complete non-issue. He obviously isn't wiping his arse with £20 notes. I'm sure he can afford more luxurious toilet roll. If I won a grand (or a hundred quid or something) from a mate, I'd have done something similar. It's a joke. The Sun's write-up yesterday was embarrassingly sensationalist.
islingtonclaret Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I'm guessing the picture-taker isn't his mate anymore.
