[quote name='Interpretation

of the Laws of the Game and Guidelines for Referees']

Handling the ball

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with

the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into

consideration:

• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)

• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)

• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an

infringement

Linesman made two shocking decisions. But, let's be honest.....The rout was coming before then. First goal just before half time was crucial. Goal difference has really taken a battering today......Add Saints and Reading winning, and it has been a pretty awful weekend. Time to get smashed and forget this ever happened.

Could really do with a positive result against Arsenal with games against QPR and Reading coming up. It would appear that QPR will no doubt have a new manager or a caretaker manager to impress once Hughes is given the chop......Let's hope they don't impress too much. Worrying times, but the result was expected. Just not to scoreline.

We have a young side, which is great. They showed plenty of spirit, but once we concede one goal; you can just tell the floodgates are open for plenty more...

Away to the Champions, in the game at 1-0 in the 50th minute. Along comes that lino, with not one, but two horrific decisions. Absolutely no point in even turning up if you're gonna get calls like that against you.

Embarrassing from the officials. They should be forced to come out after the game to explain such decisions but they don't. No wonder they get no respect from players, fans and managers.

They are a **** JOKE.

Scoreline really doesn't reflect game, 1-0 or 2-0 would've been fair. City always dominated possession but we were about equal in chances in the first half. Sloppy defending from corner cost us when we really needed to see out the half goalless. 2nd half was a farce. Two non-penalties gave City an insurmountable cushion & allowed them to play with confidence and build up a very flattering scoreline. Hope our players don't get too dispirited from the result. We've got some reasonable home games coming up and I think the lineup is promising, it's just not up to competing with a fixture like City away yet.

Linesman should never get near the Premier League again. Ref wasn't good either, can't exactly blame him for believing linesman but he should've booked both Toure and Barry, and decisions like that do alter the game subtly.

It's laughable that people can blame the linesman for a 5-0 defeat.

The facts are that we are a dozen games into the season and we are in the relegation zone with less points and below two of last seasons promoted teams. We cannot defend and we have our worst start to a top flight season in a very long time.

Now I quite like the football that Paul Lambert plays but you cannot put in a load of kids and average foreigners and expect to do anything other than struggle in the Premier League.

Where we find ourselves today is the culmination of several years of total mismanagement by those at the top so sacking Lambert is not the way forward.

Exactly. So we just have to recognise that we are making progress, and have to get behind the team and manager despite the struggle. Wallowing in the shitty last few years isn't going to help get us out of it.

Nowhere have you explained why the linesman isn't to blame for the 5-0 defeat.

How is this all down to a linesman? We were losing at that point anyway. Without the linesman the only difference would probably have been a 4-0 scoreline not 5.

Did you watch the game? Have you played football?

I'd rather have poor decisions go against us in games we were expected to lose than in games we will be wanting points from. These things even themselves out over the course of a season.

Lino not to blame for the defeat, but certainly to blame for the 5-0 aspect of it.

Not only did Weimann not touch the ball, he was pushed into it by the Man City player.

There's a **** reason why he is a linesman and not a proper referee, that's for sure.
