villarule123 Posted October 19, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted October 19, 2012 My boiler is igniting but the flame goes out after a minute, and doesn't heat any of the rads.. It has a knob that has options 0 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - X - M on, it's always on 5 but i turned to X and it reignited, but still went out a minute later. Anyone knowledgeable with boilers? I don't want Christmas to be ruined already...
GarethRDR
Check the pressure gauge.
rjw63
Might need topping up via the inlet valve, but if it is bolloxed British Gas will fix it for £99 as long as you sign up to their Homecare scheme
villarule123 Posted October 19, 2012 Author VT Supporter Share Posted October 19, 2012 The fact it still ignites must be a good sign, surely. We have just (me and the old man) put 2 new rads in this week, so that might have something to do with it? Or just a coincidence..
limpid Posted October 19, 2012 Administrator Share Posted October 19, 2012 What kind of boiler? Is it rated high enough to drive the additional two radiators? First have you bled the system properly? If it's a combi, did you repressurise it? If you isolated it while you were working on the radiators, did you open all the valves again afterwards? chrisp65
ah, if you've been fitting rads you need to bleed air out of the system - including at the pump. Your pump should have a nice big roundel on it somewhere that'll help you bleed it. Do the rads, do the pump, ignite the boiler - repeat potentially quite a few times and fingers crossed it will eventually work.
Genie
As has been said, have you reopened the rad valves after fitting? How much pressure do you have on the boiler gauge? Usually needs to be higher than 1bar
