Failure from set pieces

FA cup Arsenal away last season.

That wasn't direct from a corner. If you remember Keano took it short and played a nice little 1-2, he then dinked it into the box and Dunne headed it home.

I think direct from a corner is what he's asking.

Before the Newcastle game it was 385 corners over 66 games in the Premier League without scoring direct from a corner (from @AVFC_Stats and @WhoScored on twitter).

So I make the current count 391 corners over 67 games.

I'd be pretty surprised if Vlaar or Clark, or our strikers for that matter, don't get one soon though.

It's not just who're in the box. We had some good players in there last season too. It's also about delivery. It doesn't feel like we have any really good set piece specialist. Maybe Bannan, but his corners weren't very good against Newcastle, I think.

It's clearly a work in progress though, and if Lambert's previous history (ie, how strong Norwich were at set pieces last season) then I think we can turn the alarm bells off for a while and put faith in that the new regime are trying to address it.

The problem has been a mixture, poor finishing, deliveries but for me we haven't been that effective from corners since we had Laursen and Carew, Laursen always used to attack the ball, he knew which area it would come to and attack it, the problem is too often or not their is next to none of players moving in the box.
