kurtsimonw
It happens everywhere though. We finished 4th at the world cup, so these players must have developed to a decent level.

In the world cup England beat Panama, Tunisia (via a 90th minute goal from a corner) and Sweden. They lost to Belgium (twice), Croatia and drew with Colombia. If you take those matches on their own outside the prism of a competition it's a very unimpressive set of results. Why would you take it out of the competition context though? The fact is England did a lot better than expected in the World Cup and came 4th

villa4europe
england national team for me has been for a long time a case of set it up right, motivation, momentum and luck in the summer we got all of that actual world class footballing quality we did not, even if you just looked at harry kane and stated how amazing it was he got the golden boot he's "world class"* if you did an in depth analysis of his performance at the world cup and then looked at his goals he wasnt really was he? *im not saying that he's not world class Edited February 16, 2019 by villa4europe

Mark Albrighton Posted February 18, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted February 18, 2019 I know this is shooting fish in a barrel and probably nit picking, but Keown and his “he just destroyed Azpilicueta there” assessment of a passage of play. True heir to the wordsmith style of Barry Davies.

Zatman
Why do Sky and other media not show bad tackles when a player gets badly injured but have no problem repeatedly showing a player being assaulted

Zatman
Jamie Carragher thinks Pogba has been a revelation since Solskjaer came in. He is a 100 million player not some bargain basement signing from Lincoln
