The Jazz Thread

How wide can we stretch the definition of jazz?

I think this 1982 classic is jazz, but then I'm not great on pigeon holes so I could be wrong.

That's what they call "Juju", so I'm going to have to deny it it's legitimacy in this thread, lol

But it's **** excellent, I've had that album for years, still sound fresh

lists are always a bit autistic, but redicovered today:

Gene Krupa - Drummin Man / Drum Boogie / How high The Moon / Jeepers Creepers

Terry Lightfoot's New Orleans Jazzmen - Black Bottom Stomp

James Taylor Quartet - Blow Up

Jimmy McGriff - I've Got A Woman

oh, and a whole bunch of Jesus and Mary Chain but I might be straying into the wrong thread just a little bit there

Can't imagine JAMC making most people's Jazz Top Ten, but their use of Dorian modalities on Never Understand from the Psycocandy album was groundbreaking at the time.

Blow Up by JTQ is great.

Both of these bring back great memories from the 80s.

You are 45 years old and I claim my five pounds! :D
