kurtsimonw
England are average. If there was about 20 teams in World football, then yes.
ED
England are average. Lampard was not MOTM. A huge problem England have is pace. None of their players (save Wilshere and Rooney) can play one-touch football. You can't break teams down when you take so long to make a decision. Gerrard is a prime example of this inability: how often do you see him get the ball, look up, get it out of his feet and pass? The Spanish players don't do that, and that is where the problem lies. Here's a new one guys, do you think those 2 chaps Lampard and Gerrard can play together?

ml1dch
Dont know how cleverley gets a start for england, he was shocking tonight... Frank Lampard, Mark Noble, Steve Sidwell, Leon Britton, Lee Cattermole, Jake Livermore, Jonny Howson, Bradley Johnson, Leon Osman, Steven Gerrard, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, James Ward-Prowse That's the list of English central midfielders who played last week and were fit to play tonight. With an under-21 central midfield choice of Jordan Henderson, Jonjo Shelvey, Henri Lansbury, Josh McEachran and Jason Lowe. Pick three from that lot to start one of our harder games in World Cup qualifying.
villa4europe
Here's a new one guys, do you think those 2 chaps Lampard and Gerrard can play together? i actually looked at lampards great chelsea performances towards the end of last season, added to the reports and interviews suggesting that he was going to play a deep lying role and thought that yes finally, lampard deep + gerrard staying up top it might actually work same old bollocks though isnt it? gerrard way too deep and both of them making the other less effective it would have been worse if rooney had been thrown in too, if some of our "stars" held some sort of shape we might actually be half decent, as it is we get too many roy of the rovers
kurtsimonw
If there's only room for one, then it's goodbye Mr. Gerrard.
AVFCforever1991
If there's only room for one, then it's goodbye Mr. Gerrard. I said this a couple of pages back. If its out of Gerrard or Lampard, then I would go with Lampard every time.
islingtonclaret
Hmm. Tricky one this. Looks like we need to get rid of "golden generation" 3 out - looked a bit hopeless at times. It sort of came in waves; sometimes knew what we were doing, sometimes out of ideas and/or pace/route and threw the ball back to them. We need to build, big style. Rio looks like a write-off IMHO
