TRO
The concern is not who we let go, its who we bring in. Lets just hope they are better. because for the last 10 years or so they haven't been.....bar the odd one or two.
thunderball
Had some shockers under Lambert - too much too soon and it crushed him, broke his belief in himself. A shame. Good luck.
cyrusr Posted August 10, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted August 10, 2016 Would prefer him to Cissohko as back up to Amavi but if he wants first team football then can understand. Also as we have already played them this season, there's only 1 game he can f*** us over in!!!

BOF Posted August 11, 2016 Moderator Share Posted August 11, 2016 Linkety clickings Aston Villa transfer updated: Dr Tony Xia pulls the plug on Joe Bennett's Sheffield Wednesday move Joe Bennett of Aston Villa Joe Bennett’s switch to Sheffield Wednesday is now off after Aston Villa pulled the plug on the move. The 26-year-old agreed personal terms, passed a medical and was waiting for the formalities to be completed before owner Tony Xia intervened at the death. Sources told the Birmingham Mail that Xia blocked the move because he was unwilling to sell to a fellow promotion-hunting rival, despite manager Roberto Di Matteo giving Bennett the all-clear to move on. Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal had tracked Bennett all summer and thought he had landed the ex-Middlesbrough man when an agreement between the two clubs was struck. However, other players are now being targeted, according to those close to the Portuguese chief. Where this leaves Bennett is now unclear. His first priority this summer was to impress Di Matteo in a bid to force his way into Villa’s starting XI. Roberto Di Matteo But when the Italian told the defender last week that he prefers Jordan Amavi and Aly Cissokho in his position, a joint-decision was made to cut ties and start a fresh. A three-year deal at Hillsborough had been agreed and Bennett was focusing on getting his career back on track only to receive news at the 11th-hour that the move was off. Although available for selection, he’s unlikely to feature in the matchday squad for the home game against Rotherham this weekend.

PieFacE Posted August 11, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Feel for the lad really if RDM believes that Aly is a better player. For me, I'd rather Bennett be backup to Amavi. Seeing as he was willing to take a paycut to move, obviously wants to play football, shame to leave him in limbo. Rodders
well yes, of course, but I would think of the people involved they would best know why it fell through
Popular Post BOF Posted August 11, 2016 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted August 11, 2016 Having thought about it a little more, it's perhaps not quite as bad as it first looks. This isn't the same as the chairman deciding who is or is not in the squad (he's not against the sale of Bennett). He just doesn't want him going to Wednesday. Chairmen up and down the country are regularly quoted as saying they'd rather not sell a player to a direct rival. So after an initial panic about having a chairman 'picking the team', maybe a little perspective should be found. And calm...

Rodders
who may have spoken to agents / wednesday etc involved in the deal If another reason / something else materialises to contradict this story then fair enough. If the article is a total lie we'll presumably hear about it soon enough Edited August 11, 2016 by Rodders
