Danwichmann
Have I misread something...are West ham not moving to the OS? Yes they are moving there, but only as the anchor tenant, they won't own the stadium and it can be used for other things. Presumably that could include Orient if they could pay whatever fees would be charged to use it. It will still be used for other sports, concerts etc and as far as I know West Ham won't get any money for that, it goes to the stadium owners (ie, the govt I assume?). KennyPowers
Boris Johnson thinks the stadium can make £10m a year in revenues which is just nonsense.
CI
If I was a west ham fan I'd be against the move which I believe 35% are approx.
The_Rev
At least the new place will be easier to get away from than Upton Park.
trekka Posted March 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted March 22, 2013 Boris Johnson thinks the stadium can make £10m a year in revenues which is just nonsense. My friends, as I have discovered myself, there are no disasters, only opportunities. And, indeed, opportunities for fresh disasters.
Stevo985 Posted March 25, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted March 25, 2013 Does anyone know if they get to keep gate receipts seeing as they don't own the stadium? That's what **** Coventry over. They don't get to keep the cost of tickets, which means the only matchday revenue they get is merchandise, which doesn't amount to very much. Anthony Posted March 25, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted March 25, 2013 Dunno where to start with this, it just makes me so angry. Like pornodwarf hasn't got any cash, he'll happily take millions from one of the most deprived areas in London. It's Leyton Orient's turf and football league/FA rules state you can't move onto another team's turf. Unless you've got loads of cash of course. My understanding of the athletics track is that there will be seats that slide out to cover it, which sounds rather implausible. Anyways, the Freakonomics guys looked at all the stats for home advantage in football and the only definite they could find was the distance between the fans and the pitch. As soon as you stick in an athletics track home advantage all but disappears.
LondonLax
They will do the same as the Sydney Olympic stadium and have the seats along the side that slide out over the running track so they won't be so far from the pitch. They are proposing to fill it by offering kids for a quid and other cheap ticket deals. This is why Leyton are upset, they won't be able to offer tickets as cheap as West Ham. I believe the Newham money was a loan that will be paid back when Upton Park is sold to developers.
PompeyVillan
They shudda given it to Spurs, at least they'd have paid for the bloody thing.
