Thoughts on the starting XI vs West Ham?

Obviously our transfer activity isn't quite finished yet...but as things stand, Id go with....

-----------------------Bent----------------------------

Holman--------------Ireland-----------------Z'Zogbia

-------------Bannan-----------KEA---------------------

Lichaj------------Clark--------Vlaar------------Lawton

-----------------------Given--------------------------

I think if we can add a new LB and a new Winger to that team then things will look good for the season ahead.

I think Bannan will have a good season under Lambert so I hope he gets a decent run of games.

Not the greatest squad to be honest. We need a winger and a fullback asap.

What makes people think that Lambert will play one upfront against West Ham when we have been playing 4-4-2 in pre season? If he was planning on going with one upfront then surely he would have experimented with it more by now...

Haven't all of our pre-season games been 442 with a narrow midfield diamond and two strikers?

Given

Lowton - Vlaar - Clark - Warnock

Bannan - KEA

Homan - Ireland

Bent - Delfounso

This isn't what I would do (warnock would be out), but based on players we have in so far, feel this is how PL will go.

When we have possession from a Goal Kick, ball played short to CB's, Bannan and KEA will drop deep to pick up possession, Holman or Ireland will pull wide with the opposite full back pushing on.

I think the back line of Lichaj, Clark, Vlaar and Lowton looks very inexperienced and that worries me greatly.

For that reason you have to bring Warnock into left back and, perhaps, start Lichaj at right back instead of Lowton.

Would rather have started the season with Dunne and Vlaar being our centre-half pairing.

As patrickc suggests but I'd go 4-4-1-1

Given

Lichaj - Vlaar - Clark - Warnock

N'Zogbia - Bannan - KEA - Holman

Ireland

Bent

So we aren't over run in Midfield, it is Sam's West Ham though.... So maybe 4 2 4 isn't a bad idea...

Could 4-3-2 (Zog wide free role, Ireland middle) 1 work?
