Rename the West Midlands county?

Reminds me of Mike Whitby (Birmingham [Ex?]Council Leader) suggesting that Aston Villa should be called Birmingham Villa, so avoid confusion about where they're from..

Shush! Don't get him started again!!

Paint everything green except for the motorways which should be yellow.

We'll call Birmingham 'The Emerald City' and the West Midlands 'Oz'.

Driving north up the M5 from Bromsgrove it should look like this.

Surely it's WARWICK that's the "county town" of WARWICKSHIRE? Not Coventry..?

TRS-T's twisted reality revolves around a spot just under 52.46801, -1.86881. The knowledge at distance from this spot is related only to folklore.

And who ever refers to "The Region" - its quasi governmental bullshit than no-one uses anyway.

You always hear about 'the North-West' or 'the North-East' or the 'South-West' or the 'South East'.

Yeah when we should be hearing about the West Midlands.

For example, the media would refer to Villa or Stoke as a Midlands club.

What they should be calling us is a West Midlands club.

They wouldn't call Newcastle a Northern club would they?

They would say the 'North-East club'

For example in Leicester they have BBC East Midlands today.

In Birmingham we have BBC Midlands today.

It should be BBC West Midlands today but they don't call it that because of the confusion over the term 'West Midlands'

Does it really matter? Do you wake up in the night in a cold sweat over this?

My point is this:

The North East and the North West are treated as separate regions.

The South East and the South West are treated as separate regions.

So why aren't the East Midlands and the West Midlands treated as separate regions?
