^^^ What???

Seedorf has been an integral part of some of the best teams in the world all the way through his career. Even now at the age of 36 he still played 30 times for Milan this season!

I'm going to crucified for this, but he wasn't, and never really has been integral for Milan. Didn't get picked much for the Dutch NT after a certain point, didn't make the 2006 squad for **** sake. and that's not through age. Really good player, world class on his day but he's hand picked his performances and has a hell of a chip on his shoulder.

Clarence Seedorf could arguably be in the all-time Dutch XI...

he never really done it on the international stage to merit an inclusion in that team. Sneijder and VDV did more for Holland already than Seedorf did in his entire Dutch career

I'm pretty sure Van Basten picked Van der Vaart and Sneijder over Seedorf due to them being younger than Seedorf.
That's 2 players, Seedorf didn't make the squad. He's quite lucky to have won what he has, never been instrumental in anything. Maybe for Ajax but I'm too young to remember that.

Seedorf is very overrated just because he has a few medals, he played for some big clubs, he has played for a long time and because he's a nice guy.

As a player he isn't/wasn't all that.

That is one crazy contradictive post.

3 champs leagues with 3 different clubs - Id say you have gotta be half decent.

Case in point.

That just means that the teams he played in were very good.

It doesn't mean that he himself was very good.

Djimi Traoré has a Champions League winners medal.

Doesn't make him a great player.

We'll do this in reverse order. Yes Traoré has one CL medal and that's impressive. Most people use him as the example that you don't need to be 'all that' to win one. Just be in the right place at the right time. You can fluke one CL medal by being carried by your team-mates.

But 3 of them? For 3 different teams? You say it doesn't mean he's very good, just the teams were. You don't think 'very good' players tend to gravitate towards 'very good' teams? You think he happened to find himself at those three teams by chance or by mistake? Those teams were good enough to win the CL and all 3 of them did it with him in their side. The Traoré example holds zero water here because his is an isolated incident. Whereas I believe Seedorf's is actually unique within football.

I don't doubt his ability what so ever, but you watch him week in week out for Milan and he's quite often so bad, been booed off of the San Siro pitch a few times in his career and usually quite rightly.

When he shows up, like against ManU in 2007, against Spurs away last year, he's almost unplayable. You just don't know what player you're going to get and he can't be relied on.

Usually just done a job at Milan, Shevchenko, Inzaghi and their defence were the reason Milan won it in 2003, the 2007 one was a mixture of Kaka, Gattuso and him. Infact he's done for Milan in his later years than he did when they were the best team in Europe.
