Old School Work

I've been sorting out my room and as some of you may remember fro my last post showing my room, it is pretty much a 90s vault and I found some old school work. Most of it is from they year 2000 when I was 9/10, my earlier work is in the loft.

Anyway, Enjoy.

I think the topic was how things affected / effected us.

Create a tourism advert for a planet of our choice. Saturn is lovely this time of year.

Wrestler? I wanted to be a football manager in 2000 when I was 7/8.

I wanted to be a wrestler for as long as I can remember, skateboarder is only in there because at that time the skateboarding phase was at it's height :)

I think what put me off being a footballer was the other kids laughing at my Villa shirt.

I remember one afternoon I was having a kick around with someone, he was wearing a Man Utd shirt (he had recently decided to support them, it was 1999 after all) and I wore my Villa shirt and the ice cream man pulled over and started doing some commentating. He called me West Ham! I did shout "No! I'm Aston Villa!" at him.

When I was primary school age I wanted to be:

(a) Centre-forward and captain for Aston Villa and England

(B) The fastest gun in the west

© A WWI fighter pilot (i.e. Biggles)

(d) An astronaut

So far, I haven't achieved any of these.

Wasn't "Biggles Learns to Fly" worryingly not the first book in the series?

Correct - it was the fifth. It was however a flashback/prequel.

So what is about tennis and not being tall that draws your ire?

Well, Tennis is boring and as you can see from my illustration, if you're tall, you're more likely to have an aeroplane fly into you.

I just find there are more important things in life like my TV and my wrestling 'stuff'

An astronaut

A perennial favourite among children

Is it? Isn't it? I genuinely don't know.

It was for me, because I grew up in the 'space age' - between my 3rd and 18th birthdays, the world went from the launch of Sputnik 1, via the Mercury and Gemini manned orbital flights, to the Apollo moon landings.

Totally inspirational stuff for an avid science fiction-reading kid.

Nowadays, though...?

"Good Heavens"! Biggles ejaculated.

(only means something if you read the books :) )

Kid's still want to be Astronauts.

Did an excercise t'other day with my 3rd year students. About half of the boys drew a big Astronaut whilst the others dreamed of being a Fenerbahçe player...
