Jarpie
Something from a bit more credible source than Mirror 'journalist': Timothy Abraham @TimothyAbraham Understand there has been no official approach from Villa for either Roberto Martinez or Paul Lambert yet. #AVFC #WAFC #NCFC
Jarpie
And another one: Timothy Abraham @TimothyAbraham However, #AVFC board remain relaxed about the situation and happy with progress. They would rather wait and make the right appointment. So I guess we can forget the appointment for this week.

Ponky
Something from a bit more credible source than Mirror 'journalist': Timothy Abraham @TimothyAbraham Understand there has been no official approach from Villa for either Roberto Martinez or Paul Lambert yet. #AVFC #WAFC #NCFC It's pretty naive to think that "no official approach" means no contact. I'm pretty sure that there journos were saying we had made "no official approach" for OGS too, but it didn't preclude having an "informal chat" with him & his agent. I am sure the club has contacted agents and will know which people may or may not be interested to talk to us, but there's no point in making an official approach until you are sure of who you want. My guess is that they want to talk to Martinez but he won't talk to them until he has a sense of where he stands with Liverpool. There's not much they can do to hurry that along, apart from appoint someone they like less just for the sake of putting a rush on it.
Bane17
Timothy Abraham @TimothyAbraham When I say left-field I don't mean in a McLeish sense! More like a Rutten, Paciencia, Pioli type appointment. It's just a gut feeling mind.

Harry
Some of the posts on this thread are little short of embarrassing. It's a discussion board, isn't it? Sorry that you feel embarrassed by some of it. Perhaps we should all shut up - I'm sure the Club will make a statement of a new appointment in the fullness of time..... Did I ask anyone to shut up.........eh no. You are right it's a discussion board, I have expressed my opinion and you have expressed yours, I think that's sort of what this is all about really. Personally I'm not embarrassed but I do think its ironical when fans complain and abuse RL and PF over not having instantly appointed the fans choice as manager having just delivered precisely what everyone wanted namely sacking Alex Mcleish. Pelle
I don't understand why it's so important to get a new manager right now. It's been what? A week since the ginger mug left? So what we want is the board to run out and get the first available candidate? Given their recent track record (especially given their last appointment) is this knee-jerk reaction really what fans want? Preseason doesn't start for a few weeks (months?) yet. Getting the right manager in place is much, much more important than getting someone now. Thank you! I knew football fans were impatient, but I think this is getting ridiculous. Less than two weeks and people are already panicking. But I think what annoys people most is that we don't hear a thing from inside Villa. Apart from OGS we only hear about vague rumours, and that might give some unrest. For me it's only for the good that they keep it quiet. I for one think they'll come up with someone we haven't given that much thought, or no thought at all.

Ingram85
Well if they don't hurry up there will be a lot of people who won't renew this season unless the end of may deadline is put back. I'm looking to get one and it all depends on who they appoint but if they don't extend the deadline I wont.

Jarpie
As much as it frustates us Villa fans, I think Villa is doing the right thing keeping this very much under the radar, just look at what fiasco Liverpool manager hunt has become; they announce that they are looking into 12 managers, and three managers publicly distances themselves from the Liverpool.
