bred
Posting again from the other thread. This is a misleading statistic. Thats 358 corners assuming all of them were direct. We have scored from indirect corners. Think the last one was Keane to Dunne.
Humanoid
we don't score from corners because we don't usually get it on collins's head. when it does happen, collins usually doesn't get it on target. when he does get it on target, he usually doesn't get it past the keeper. Here's an interpretation of villa's crossing: hit it at the first man, hope it goes out for a corner so we can try to aim for collins' head. Here's an interpretation of villa's freekicks: float the ball in the general direction of collins, and expect to see a different result to the one we usually get from corners. Zatman
also look at how many we concede at corners. Has been dreadful since Laursen, Carew and dare i say it Zat Knight have gone Thing that is more worrying is that we dont even look like threatening from a corner
VillaRoy
Even if I took 358 corners for Villa, I recon one would have treacled into the back of the net by now. 358 corners and no goal must be a Premier League record surely?
matrim
The last time I remember us being dangerous from corners was MONs last season. We would swing in the corner for Culleur to flick on then have Dunne and Collins running in to get on the ball. Now we just seem to float them to the back post (or beyond) and hope someone does something.
juanpabloangel18
I'd say Collins plays a large part in this. Regularly misses over with his headers from corners. Absolutely dreadful stat though.
macandally
Lack of delivery and desire, simples. Add that to the fact that the owner, manager and players appear to care very little for the club and you have a situation where nobody can be arsed to stay behind to work on that type of stuff. Tomsub
In recent years the corners were taken by Barry, milner, young and downing. we have failed to replace any of these players hence our deliver in the box from set pieces is totally crap. Spot on! It's no secret - good players put in good crosses and good players get on the end of them. Poor players put in poor crosses and poor players don't get on the end of them.
villa4europe
ive asked opta on twitter how many of those 358 resulted in a chance on goal which might give an indication if its the delivery or the heading, try tweeting @omarholte who i think is a villa fan working for them i think its a mixture of everything, watch us take a throw in and you can see movement is mind boggling to most of our players, we seem incapable of whipping a ball in rather than some rubbish floaty thing and then to round it off we dont have anyone who really attacks the ball (hence why we are shit at defending them too)

Its not just this season that its happened, it was the 10th of November 2010 the last time we scored from one.
CI
Actually who's been taking the corners, I've seen Bannan take a few and his delivery is ok
Ponky
Sadly enough I think Petrov has been our best corner taker this season.
Zatman
Petrov took a few at start of season, think Zog and Keane also took some
VillaGoMarching
Our set piece frailties (attacking & defending) are reason enough to sack mcleish. Shameful.
Brumstopdogs
Poor crossing, lack of movement, lack of desire to win the ball, lack of variation and Alex Mcleish!
Voinjama
Was just watching the league win over Leicester in 2003 and all the goals were from corners. It was the game when Ferdinand got sent off for sarcastically clapping the ref. Great game.

Zatman
in fairness we had Hammer, Whittingham taking set pieces back then so was quality at team think is im pretty sure defending set pieces was main strength of his side at birmingham, maybe as players training with Larsson every day helped them
