SPECULATION: Gabby to Sunderland

Yeahh lets sell our best players as we do every window.

Gabby isn't in the same class as previous sales, he's a lower half premier league player, that's it. As he gets older and his pace fades (further) he just becomes a striker that can't score. See ya Gabby.

I hate to admit it, but your right Dale. Without his pace he is very average sadly.

Without the wins he single-handedly lead us to between August and October we'd probably already have been relegated.

And with the goals he hasn't scored since November, we're now in a relegation fight. He's not doing his job. He's lazy and he doesn't score. If we keep him until 2020 he might hit 100 goals for the club. I hope we don't.

No-one is scoring goals. We don't create any chances. We never get close to the opposition penalty area. There is one man to blame for that and it's not Gab.

looks like he doesn't give a shit
To be fair though, when he does try and smile this happens...

I'd rather he sticks to what he knows, if only for the sake of the children.

When Heskey is busting a gut to help out the defence while his CAPTAIN has his hands on his hips watching from a safe distance then you know that's not the kind of player you want. We all know McLeish is the problem but it does not make sense to then say Gabby is 'Villa thru and thru' and then try to defend him doing f*ck all to help his beloved club no matter who the manager is. For me he has been a waste of a jersey for about 6 months now. At times we'd have been better with 10 men because at least then the others would have known to cover the spare turf. Given the position he plays on the pitch and the senior status he has within the squad, there is no-one more to blame on the pitch for our current predicament than him (there are equals, but no-one more so). He only gets an easy time of it in here because he's from the area.

Well there are another 10 men on the pitch so which one is it?

Ah right. So that's his defence. It's OK for the ONE senior striker in the side not to score goals, because everyone else - the goalkeeper, the defence, the midfield - are struggling to score too. And there was me thinking that was one of his primary roles - if not his primary role.

But I would have thought that was fairly obvious.

I never said he was, you just asked a stupid question. I look forward to you waving your 'Gabby out' flyer at the game tomorrow as clearly McLeish's 10 man behind the ball tactics do not hinder strikers' opportunities to score goals.

Sadly my little flag wont get any use tomorrow as i'll be on the golf course. :)

So we never get near the opposition half and never have the chance to play a through ball or whip a ball in?

Regardless of what AM tells them to do, you really think the players are not trying to score a goal? The fact is the players are not good enough.

Gabby's been pissed about by two successive managers for two season's now. He's never been a winger, the only reason MON played him there right at the start was to introduce him to the PL as soon as he was ready, he was put up front.

Can't really blame him if he leaves, especially if McLeish is staying.

Totally agree.

Gabby hasn't been great by any standards this season and for the money involved (£12 m?) a club with good scouting and a nose for spotting talent could work wonders.

Aston Villa on the other hand will most likelly spunk the money on highearning ageing, brittish players like Zamora, Andy Johnson or Defoe. Not bad players, but not value for money.

I'd much rather we stick with Gabby, at least he has some feelings for the club, the others will just see us as a last big payday and nothing more.

I would love Villa to sign Defoe. A very good finisher and at 29 still has some mileage on the clock left. I wanted him to come when MON was in charge and at the time would have slightly prefered him to Bent.

Gabby's moping around of late has been a disgrace.

His form has been piss poor for two seasons now and he needs to up his game.

That said, this story is horeshite for a number of reasons. The timing of it cheif amongst them.
