NeilS
I never thought of Petrov in that role if you think about it, gravesen was bought in at celtic as petrov was leaving Yes I guess so, I just thought of Petrov in an "all action role" getting up and down the park. He can do the job, but I think you just lose a bit from his game if he sits anchoring midfield. I guess Davis could come in to do Petrov's role if it came to it. OnePablo
Petrov would be wasted playing a DM style role i'd like to see us play 2 DM's, 2 wingers and 2 forwards. The DM's can then take it in turn top cover, like cambiasso and viera at Inter.

ahamaad
what would peoples responses be if we got robbie savage in jan? I'd say he was over rated and past it, and not the sort of player we need.

I'd say he was over rated and past it, and not the sort of player we need. Indeed. Although someone in his mould but better who runs around all day, tackles hard and well, and is generally a bit nasty would be lovely. Nobody young enough or available enough springs to mind though. Even Martin and Randy couldn't bring Gattuso could they?

If you can see the difference. Gattuso that is, not Savage. :?

John
what would peoples responses be if we got robbie savage in jan? I thought that "The Porndrome" was nearer than Villa Park is to his parents' home. I'm happy to accept anyone Martin wants to bring in. But, I would not say no to going the Spurs route by bringing the best young English talent into the club, such as Barnes from Derby, Bale from Southampton and Murray from Wolves. Up front you get what you pay for, I would be happy with any two from Keane, Defoe and Bent, I also like the look of Nugent and Eastwood does score for fun, but so did Guy Whittingham before he joined us. Santa_Rosa
Pedantic hat on... Bale's Welsh isn't he? ...and off again. You're right though John. I'd add Ashley Young of Watford to that list
