SoccerHQ
At this stage last season, I think we had 27 points and the previous one 31 points. Both those seasons though, we had shite form in the run in from around march so the opportunity is there with the fixture list to have a good end of the season and break the 50 points barrier. BOF Posted January 30, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted January 30, 2007 Thankfully we're now back ahead of last season's points tally. Next up is a trip to St.James' Park. Last season was a 1-1 draw up there in week 15. Week 25 last season was a 4-0 crushing of Middlesbrough at the Riverside.
BOF Posted February 1, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted February 1, 2007 Week 26 last season was a 2-1 reverse @ VP against Newcastle (irony?). This season is a home tie against the strip-robbing Tommy-tankers from East Laaaaandaaaan. We're 1pt behind last season's tally. We're on the brink of a relegation fight although imo not quite in it yet. A win here is just the ticket. A draw would be 2pts dropped but not a complete disaster (unless Charlton were to somehow win against Chelsea) but a defeat would put us right in it. Last season's home tie with the Shammers was a 2-1 loss as they completed the double over us and the attendance was decent @ 36.7k

Ghost_of_Pongo_Waring
Interesting - we are now worse than we were last season then Our results compared against the same teams last season sees us eight points better off and with a far superior goal difference. 21 (-6) this season compared with 14 (-20). This doesn't, naturally, include results against Watfoed, Sheff Utd or Reading as we didn't play them last season.
RichardCanning
Lawro's League after 27 games, seems he really doesn't like Steve Coppell's men at all: Team P W D L GD Pts Man Utd 27 21 6 0 +40 69 Chelsea 27 20 6 1 +39 66 Arsenal 26 18 6 2 +33 60 Liverpool 27 16 10 1 +30 58 Bolton 27 13 11 3 +15 50 Portsmout 27 11 9 7 +9 42 West Ham 27 9 12 6 +6 39 Everton 26 10 8 8 +3 38 Tottenham 26 8 11 7 +4 35 Blackburn 27 8 9 10 -7 33 A Villa 27 8 8 11 -7 32 Wigan 27 7 10 10 -4 31 Sheff Utd 27 6 8 13 -16 26 Fulham 27 4 9 14 -18 21 Newcastle 27 3 11 13 -17 20 Boro 27 5 5 17 -21 20 Charlton 27 3 10 14 -18 19 Watford 27 4 7 16 -25 19 Man City 26 4 6 16 -19 18 Reading 27 2 11 14 -21 17 BOF : Made it all purdy
ChrisVillan
I was stood behind a couple of Reading fans on the bus away from the ground yesterday and they were laughing at Lawro's predictions for them.
Trinity-Tom
RC, that is interesting reading. For all the slagging we give him he has got us on the exact number of points. Mind you, comparing Readin and West Ham shows how little football he must watch.
BOF Posted February 13, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted February 13, 2007 I will wait for next Wednesday's games in hand to be played before updating our loss. Probably wont be good reading though (pun intended ).
BOF Posted February 22, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted February 22, 2007 After last night's games we can properly updated the table. Still marginally ahead of last season. Week 28 last year was a 1-0 home win against Portsmouth so with our next game being against Arsenal it's quite possible we will be behind last season's points tally going into week 29. ender4
I hope you don't mind, but I thought i'd be interesting to add an attendance table compared to the other premiership teams. It doesn't include the Arsenal match. March 4, 2007 Team Average 1 Man Utd 75,793 2 Arsenal 60,043 3 Newcastle 50,363 4 Liverpool 43,673 5 Chelsea 41,492 6 Man City 38,940 7 Everton 36,566 8 Tottenham 35,676 9 Aston Villa 35,609 10 West Ham 34,691 11 Sheff Utd 30,151 12 Mid'boro 27,894 13 Charlton 26,032 14 Reading 23,790 15 Bolton 23,282 16 Fulham 21,990 17 Blackburn 21,271 18 Portsmouth 19,788 19 Watford 18,665 20 Wigan 17,712 Premiership Average Attendance: 34,
Rocafella
This season has been disappointing because: 1) We aren't scoring goals 2) We aren't playing good football 3) We are worse off than last season under DOL
BOF Posted March 20, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted March 20, 2007 Liverpool draw recorded. We're now 1 solitary goal better off than last season although we are 3 positions better off, which is not to be underestimated. We are also 6.6% up on last season's average attendance. Last season week 31 was a home draw 0-0 with Fulham.
BOF Posted April 3, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted April 3, 2007 Still 1 goal better off than last year. The Everton attendance was 4,000 up on last year. A remarkable thing considering it was on Sky and was an evening Monday kick off. Next up for us is an away trip to Blackburn. Last season that was a 2-0 defeat. Week 32 last season was a 5-0 hammering in Highbury, so I guess getting anything from Ewood would be an improvement.
BOF Posted April 8, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted April 8, 2007 So just in the nick of time we've started improving on last season's tallies. We are 3pts better off but more importantly we are 3 positions better off too. Week 33 last season was a scoreless home draw with the Olbiyun. Next up for us is a home tie against Wigan who, rather annoyingly, beat us 2-0 at home last season. This season their need is much greater than ours so it will be a tough tie, but if MON sticks with a similar line-up to the one we used against Blackburn then I'd be hopeful of a better outcome. Denis_B
Just to update this thread...... After 34 games, won 9, drawn 15, lost 10 for - 36 against 39. = 42 points last seasons FINAL table won 10, drew 12, lost 16 f 42 a 55. =42 points. This is to me a great improvement with still 4 winnable games to play (maybe except Notlob) Defence a significant improvement. Just think three more goals to convert draws to wins would have given us 48 points now, level with reading and ONE point of a UEFA place. Are things really that bad? BOF Posted April 15, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted April 15, 2007 I haven't updated this yet because this gameweek has 13 games and loads of teams have games in hand, so I will wait until after Wednesday's games and update gameweek 33 & 34 simultaneously. BOF Posted April 19, 2007 Author Moderator Share Posted April 19, 2007 Wigan & Boro updated. We now have the point total that we ended up with last season so anything else is an improvement. Week 35 last season was a 3-2 away defeat at newly promoted Wigan. Next up for us is a Pompey chasing Europe. Last season that was a 1-0 win for us.
