I really hope it's not black socks again as that just looks plain awful, my twins have the kit and I can't bear to put the socks on them, saying that I really like white socks with our home kit as long as they've a great deal of claret & blue on them as well, looking forward to seeing what Macron can offer us after the Nike dross.

Has anyone else noticed how they have added a white border to our badge?

In the 12 or so months since it got leaked you've noticed it now? How random.

The black socks are a throwback if I recall correctly, although I must admit I'm not a big fan of them either. Still, they've grown on me throughout the season. We should go back to sky blue socks with claret trim, that looks best in my opinion.

Having white socks would just make us look like West Ham, which considering we're the top two claret and blue teams in the country and we're both having our kits manufactured by Macron as of next season, we need as many things different as possible to make us stand out. Not only that, I just think white socks look a bit shit.

I hope we get to see the kits soon. I was thinking if the rumour about how the only place you'll be able to buy Macron products is the club shop, and if that include the kits, then a leak will be unlikely which is a shame. Still, I suppose at least we'll see them and be able to buy them earlier than we have with the last couple of Nike kits.

I popped into the club shop today to buy me a support stan t shirt. The sales assistant said the new home kit should be revealed soon as it is going on sale from the 16th June. She also said there will be over 120 villa macron products available to buy which is more than double what Nike provided. She said we are going to be macrons flagship team and all products will only be available via the clubshop. She seemed to think that macron will treat us a lot better than Nike did. Im going to reserve judgement until I have seen the quality of the products but I think the deal and the way we will be treated by macron sounds promising

I can assure you this is incorrect, the distribution of kits is being handled exclusively by the Aston Villa Wholesale Department as opposed to Macron themselves. The products will be available from whomever they can get to stock them. I imagine this is due to the nightmare we had where Nike after a season or two of lousy sales decided not to distribute the kits outside of the UK and Ireland. US retailers were unable to stock the kits as Nike wouldn't deal with them and Villa couldn't distribute the kits themselves.

From what I've seen the wholesale dept seem to be intent on getting Villa merchandise into as many shops as will take it. Not an easy task considering how few people there will be interested in buying it but the intent is there.

Back to the ongoing sock argument. Here's a break down of our sock choices throughout the clubs history.

NOTE some of these season we switch socks half way through in those cases I marked them down for the full season. That's why the years don't add up. Also number indicate year each season started.

Years with claret socks:

Total: 41 years

For the sake of completion year with chocolate socks: 1886

So claret socks have been the most used throughout the history of the club with black socks in second place. The original Claret and Blue kits also featured claret socks although prior to the adoption of those club colours black had been used.

The most successful sock is claret with 6 league wins. Our only other title came in blue along with the European cup.

We last won the FA Cup in black socks 1957. The 6 other wins came in claret socks.

We won two League Cups in claret sock seasons, two in blue seasons and one in a white sock season.

There, all you need to know about Villa socks.

Goodness me  This is longer then prideofbrum's post.

For what its worth I think claret socks look the best. Claret shirt, white shorts, and claret socks.
