I've got a funny feeling that we'll nick this one, it sounds stupid considering all Stoke really have is set-pieces and throw-ins and that's what we struggle with. But I think if we go there with a positive intention we are more than capable of taking three points away from it, I think we've got too much for them going forward, the key as always at the Britannia is to be on the ball when defending set-pieces and throws, which worries me slightly.

big game yet again. we need at least a point but have to go for the win. if we play like we did against arsenal we can get something but this has to be the team. no collins or heskey.

guzan

herd dunne cuellar warnock

albie petrov clark zog

gabby bent

would like to see bannan and ireland get more game time as well

It could be one of those ironic ones where, having conceded set pieces to just about everyone we manage to keep out the specialists. But it's hard to really see it. Likes of Huth will have a field day attacking corners & throw-ins against a team which is so unsure at defending them. Need Guzan to be commanding and come of his line when possible.

Expect if Heskey is fit he will be selected for his height, i.e.:

Guzan

Cuellar-Collins-Dunne-Warnock

Albrighton-Petrov-Clark-N'Zogbia

Gabby-Heskey

That'd give us 4 CBs + Heskey - which is one way to try and counter Stoke's many giants, though it certainly won't be pretty. Of course another method is to play skilled ball players and try to dominate possession, but I don't think we've really got the means, even if we did have a manager who would countenance it. What will be depressing is if Stoke manage to have more possession than us, something they've barely managed against anyone whilst in the Premier League..

I think Stoke will win, after continuous bombardment of high balls into our box....

Unfortunately, due to Hutton's red card and Herd being unfit, I can envisage Cuellar switching to RB and Collins slotting back into the defence - hence the reason we'll lose.

At least Bent should be back to partner Gabby upfront, at the expense of Ireland/Bannan

If we don't win this one, the table after Chelsea is going to look pretty terrible for us.

Looking at the fixtures I think we'll only fall to about 14th with Sland and Wolves going above us

Swansea does become a MUST win game though

Nice to see Mcleishs attitude has finally rubbed off on all of the fans in this thread and now worry about the opposition more than playing to our own strengths, I would Start withe the same team as other night with herd in for Hutton if he's suspended. Clarke, dunne, ceuller and gabby can all head the ball well, herd isn't bad either,

Why give poor teams such respect, last game was a 2-1 loss to arsenal not blacburn, we have footballers and pace in our ranks

Keep the same team as much as possible.

Ideally Herd in for Hutton, but I dont think he'll be available, so unfortunately that will probably mean Collins to CB, Cuellar to RB.

Thought Clark was poor the other night, but we looked better overall, so probably best to keep him in there.

Team should be:

----------------------Guzan-------------------------

--Cuellar--------Collins----Dunne-----Warnock---

----------------Petrov-------Clark-------------------

----------------------Ireland--------------------------

-----Nzogbia-----------Bent---------------Gabby----

with Albrighton on the bench
