We were hanging on for much of the second half though... Bolton probably feel they deserved a draw (even though we could have been 4 up at half time). Thought ALbrighton looked good and certainly did not stop running. Bent will be off in January. McLeish doesn't think him and Gabby can play together. Simple as that really. VillaRoy Posted December 10, 2011 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Much better. Super first half. 2 wingers and 2 strikers is the way. 4-4-2. Albrighton, Dunne or Warnock man of the match. Impressed with N'Zogbia and Gabby were impressive today. It did not need to be as nerve racking as it was in the second half. Bent should have put away at least 1 today. Poor finishing by him. Not his day. Guzan 8 - Made the right decisions, a couple of very good saves too. Warnock 8 - One of his best performances in a Villa shirt, controlled. Hutton 6 - Decent going forward, still question marks defensively. Dunne 8 - Dominant Collins 6.5 - Did enough today, still get nervous when he is on the ball. N'Zogbia 7.5 - Very lively in first half, caused quite a few problems. Improving! Albrighton 9 - Man of the Match. A much needed good performance from Alby. Well taken goal, superb delivery throughout the game. Nearly got a second goal at end. Bent 5 - Should have put away 1 of his chances today. Offside flag raised even more than usual. He'll struggle to get goals in some of the games to come. Gabby - 8 Mr Consistant for Villa this season, always seems to be our greatest threat. No change today. Herd - 7.5 Becoming a key player for us, breaks up play very well for a youngish lad. Did well today. Petrov - 7.5 Good in the first half. Should have got an assist in the second half with that set up for Bent. Good performance. Best away performance this season. Should have won by more goals with the amount of chances we created. Now McLiesh needs to stick with the 4-4-2 against Arsenal and Liverpool. Hopefully doesn't bottle it and revert back to the shit we been served most of this season. Arsenal will muller us, as they always do, if we play 4-4-2 because they will control the midfield. I voted Petrov man of the match but Marc was a close second. Zoggy was superb 1st half but went missing 2nd. Still, good to see he can play. Guzan also was excellent. Some poor finishes from Bent really were the only difference between a nervous finish and a 4-1 victory. We need to stop sitting back when we take the lead.
