LancsVillan Posted October 26, 2011 Moderator Posted October 26, 2011 As everyone knows VillaTalk lost one of its own last week when Patrick Ebbutt (Paddy) lost his long and proud fight with the horror that is cancer. A few members have approached various Mods and other 'known' users with regards to flowers and/or a donation, details for this are below. I'm also proud to say that VillaTalk will create its own memorial for Paddy in the Patrick Ebbutt / VillaTalk Player of the Season award, an award that will be given to the winning player by a member of the site in the May of each season. (The logistics of the giving of the award are to be finalised, however, the club have agreed it will be in person at either Bodymoor Heath or pre-match at Villa Park). Back to Paddy: The funeral is to be held on Friday 4th November @ 13:15 @ Redditch Crematorium, Bordesley Lane, Redditch, Worcestershire, B97 6RR Flowers are family only and donations are either to Brain Tumour Research or St Mary's hospice in Selly Park. If any member would like to donate to the above please use the Donate button at the top of every VT page and put 'paddy' in the donation as username. Should you also wish to donate to the memorial trophy feel free to do so via the same method. If a member is going to be attending can they please reply to this thread in order that the family can be informed for numbers. Thanks The Moderators
LancsVillan Posted November 4, 2011 Author Moderator Posted November 4, 2011 Thoughts are with family and friends today. Goodbye Pat.
PompeyVillan Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I was thinking of you today Paddy. Rest in peace.
LatestConfirmedIn Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I attended the funeral which was a incredibly moving ceremony. Paddy had many many friends, he will be missed.

LancsVillan Posted February 10, 2012 Author Moderator Posted February 10, 2012 The Patrick Ebbutt Memorial Trophy - VillaTalk Player of the Season As you all know, well known and liked VillaTalk member Paddy lost his brave fight with cancer in November and as a site we collected £220 for the family to divide between Brain Tumour Research and St Mary's Hospice in Selly Park, where Paddy was cared for in the final weeks of his all too short life. There was an option for those who wanted to, to donate towards a player of the season trophy in Pat's memory. This separate collection raised £55. The trophy this year will be presented, during the last couple of weeks of the season, to the winning player by a VT member together with a member of Paddy's family . In subsequent years the trophy will be presented by a VT member. The award will be worked out by totalling up the MotM awards in the Ratings and Reaction threads that can be found in the Matchday Forum for each game played. So make those votes count. When the award is bought and ready to be given I will post a picture of it and there will obviously be pictures and the like after the award is presented. The name of the trophy is not set in stone as yet, so if you have an alternative name for it then feel free to post it and we can discuss it prior to purchase. Many thanks to all who donated and if you missed out at the time but wish to make a further donation please use the donate button at the top and place 'paddy' in the username section for limpid to process. Thanks The Moderators
kidlewis Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 glad to see other people donated to the trophy in his memory. I think it will be a fitting way to remember him by on here.
PompeyVillan Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I'd leave the 'memorial' out of the name of the trophy. I'm not sure how others feel about this, but I feel it sounds more fitting to have the trophy live on as being paddy's, rather than to think of paddy as a memory.
kidlewis Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I agree I think Memorial makes it sound a but like we're erecting a cenotaph in his name. He was always full of life on the forum.
Stevo985 Posted February 15, 2012 VT Supporter Posted February 15, 2012 Great idea! And somehow I missed the donation for the trophy so if there's still a way to donate I'd happily give some cash.
kidlewis Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 What do we reckon to the style of the trophy? Obviously something representing what the award is for but also something Paddy would have given the thumbs up to. For £55 plus you're looking at a pretty nice trophy
kidlewis Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 might be hard pushed to find one but a trophy of a polar bear kicking a football would be quite fitting. either that or a polar bear roaring under the gates of AVFC
