tonyh29
Caught up with an old school friend of mine yesterday and we were talking about our school days and how our form teacher won Mastermind one year ( and the international version the following year which was like a sort of Champions league for eggheads ) So if you went on Mastermind , what would your specialist subject be Would love to pick Ancient Egypt but it's just too vast and I know they would give me too many tricky questions :-) so I've narrowed it down to a choice between JFK and The Beatles .. I'd like to think i wouldn't disgrace myself on those 2 subjects over to you .....
mjmooney Posted October 13, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 13, 2011 The Los Angeles rock music scene 1965 - 1975. I actually auditioned for Mastermind this year, and had this as my agreed subject. I got put on the reserve list, but nobody dropped out, so I never got on. Still mulling over whether to apply again next year. BTW Tony - they would never let you do The Beatles, too popular (they try not to have repeat subjects from previous series). AVFCDAN
Not sure how specific you can be but mine would be tennis from 2000-2011, preferably the last 5 years
TheDon
I'd probably go with something to do with TV, everyone always seems to pick shows with hundreds of episodes though. I'd be smart and probably go for fawlty towers, only 12 episodes so should be pretty easy to swat up on. The Los Angeles rock music, scene 1965 - 1975. Whatever you do don't have your specialist subject as "The correct use of commas in the English Language"

Shillzz
Amongst present company I'd probably look distinctly average, but it would have to be Aston Villa Football Club, ideally 2000 onwards. Failing that, possibly the life and times of Brian Clough, having read a few books about him.

mjmooney Posted October 13, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 13, 2011 When the programme first started it was way more elitist/academic - no pop music, and no football (although cricket was OK - more middle-class, see?). In the modern day dumbed-down version anything goes, provided it hasn't Bin Dunne in recent years.

Pelle
I n't rally know what the show is, but I guess that you should know pretty everything of a subject so mine would be Queen. Seen every documentary I've found, read every book I've found, discussed them for hours with my brother. Still, would probably fail.
