Moldova seem to be in crisis with their manager calling his own players rats and threatening to resign, 3pts should be there for the taking. Going off the 2 games so far, Ireland appeared to have regressed since the summer, last 2 games have been quite reminiscent of late era Trappatoni. You always seem to grind out the wins though...that's my point. In 2013 Wales went to Macedonia and lost for example....Northern Ireland around that time I think only drew in Leichenstein and lost in Azerberjan....Scotland where do we start...every qualifying group they've throwing away points to Lithuania and Georgia. You guys even had those problems in the mid to late 90s with talented teams under Mick Mccarthy throwing away stupid points to minnows. Even if the performances are poor it's still a great knack to have. He shouldn't have stepped forward and left 40 yards of space behind him. The two of them don't fill me with confidence though. That's very harsh Clarke had a small bit of blame at best for the goal. Duffy was miles into their half way out of position. The ball was hit down his side. i thought Clarke had a very good game made a lot of good blocks and clearances. It gave me the chance to have great friends like Stephen Rice and Pat Sullivan, classy on and off the pitch. It gave me the chance to mark Cristiano Ronaldo from corners. It gave me the chance to stand in a helpless wall when Del Piero stuck a free in top corner. It gave me a chance to play against the leagues best…..Derek Pender, Glen Crowe, Jason Byrne, John O’Flynn and Christy Fagan. It gave me the chance to play under great captains like Kenna and Murray. It gave me a rivalry with Killian Brennan, a great player that wasn’t afraid to kick me back. I’ll miss that. It gave me a chance to miss a peno in front of 30,000 people in Lansdowne Road. It gave me the chance to have songs sung about me….some good, some bad. It gave me the chance to play for all of Dublin’s big clubs. Anyone that watches football will know I’m an average player but hard work and commitment was the reason I got all these chances. If I can do it anyone can. Never give up. Thank you football.
