My wife was a surgical nurse and used to assist operations for the surgeon Dr Hack.

My cousin's cousin had the surname Cox and married a guy with the surname Ball. I never found out whether she hyphenated it to Cox-Ball or not.

I had a friend by the name of Simon Ness, and his brother Stuart Ness. I discovered one day their middle names - Andrew and Peter.

I'm convinced their Dad (who chose the names) was having a laugh, as that meant there was a Simon A Ness and Stuart P Ness. Genius! :D

The best real one I've heard is Dover Disney, but that sounds pretty boring compared to the ones above.

Blimey Danwichmann - I know him !

Racing cyclist from Ludlow Cycling Club.

Yeah that's him. In fairness, I don't know him but a guy I work with is into the time trialling and knows him.

Came across the name of HAMISH McSPORRAN. Now, if our friends north of Hadrians Wall could please let me know if this is a real name or not - because I fell off my chair laughing at that one

In Sweden we have a journalist working at a sportshow on radio called Robert Tennisberg (translated "Robert Tennismountain").
Did it ever occur to anyone that Derek Mountfield and Dennis Bergkamp effectively had the same surname?

I went to college with a fellow named Rupert Prat. He looked nothing like his name suggested, and was far from a prat, but he did get some strange looks and sniggers when his name was read out for the first time.
