leviramsey Posted August 22, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted August 22, 2011 Orton named Week 1 starter Looks like there won't be another Raiders/49ers preseason game again (it is noteworthy that the Giants/Jets and Ravens/Redskins don't have this problem...) kkr
If Brandon Jacobs stays healthy he will be back over 1000 yards rushing this year. I dunno who it was but he just juked one of the Bears defenders out of his boots for a 18 yard TD!

leviramsey Posted August 24, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted August 24, 2011 Commentator alignments have been released for this year CBS games 1. Jim Nantz/Phil Simms 2. Greg Gumbel/Dan Dierdorf 3. Ian Eagle/Dan Fouts 4. Marv Albert/Rich Gannon 5. Kevin Harlan/Solomon Wilcots 6. Bill Macatee/Steve Tasker Spero Dedes/Steve Beuerlein & Don Criqui/Randy Cross are also teams... the press release implies that Dedes/Beuerlein are the #7 crew, but that's a hell of a demotion for the ever-professional Don Criqui (Randy Cross, though, is basically worthless, IMO) Fox 1. Joe Buck/Troy Aikman/Pam Oliver 2. Kenny Albert/Moose Johnston/Tony Siragusa 3. Thom Brennaman/Brian Billick/Laura Okmin 4. Dick Stockton/John Lynch 5. Chris Myers/Tim Ryan 6. Ron Pitts/Jim Mora 7. Sam Rosen/Chad Pennington 8. Gus Johnson/Charles Davis/Tim Brewster [for weekends where Buck is calling baseball, Brennaman will team with Aikman and the 4-8 play-by-play guys will move up a notch] NBC Al Michaels/Cris Collinsworth/Michele Tafoya ESPN Mike Tirico/Ron Jaworski/Jon Gruden/Suzy Kolber NFL Network Brad Nessler/Mike Mayock/Alex Flanagan Week 1's commentators: Steelers @ Ravens: Nantz/Simms Bengals @ Browns: Harlan/Wilcots Colts @ Texans: Gumbel/Dierdorf Titans @ Jaguars: Eagle/Fouts Bills @ Chiefs: Albert/Gannon Falcons @ Bears: Albert/Johnston/Siragusa Lions @ Bucs: Myers/Ryan Eagles @ Rams: Brennaman/Billick/Okmin Giants @ Redskins: Buck/Aikman/Oliver Seahawks @ 49ers: Stockton/Lynch Panthers @ Cardinals: Rosen/Pennington Vikings @ Chargers: Pitss/Mora
kurtsimonw
**** OFF! Really can't stand that pair of clowns, seem to do about half of our games a season though.
kkr
I like them, Dallas homerism aside. Plus its always great when they have to call a Cowboys game and they lose! But joking aside i think they are a good duo and work well together. Like most of the Fox crew to be honest.

irreverentad
I like Mayock around the time of the Draft but dont like him as a commentator. I also dread seeing that cheesy 'Phil-osophy' from Simms on Gameday 1!!

Dante_Lockhart
Extremely watchable game so far. Bit of a rocky start but it's been good seeing Flacco take downfield shots, AND connect with them. Lee Evans is gonna be a favourite target this year.

Tegis Posted August 29, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted August 29, 2011 Broncos second string is officially cack! Nice one by Hauschka to come on for his only kick of the game and win it with a 51 yard FG with 2 seconds to go. And Tebows decision-making is iffy at best. Orton looks sharp though

leviramsey Posted August 30, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted August 30, 2011 Sports Illustrated has previewed their NFL Preview issue Bacefook. Peter King predicts: AFC East Patriots: 12-4 Jets: 10-6 (wildcard) Bills: 7-9 Dolphins: 6-10 AFC North Steelers: 10-6 Ravens: 10-6 (wildcard) Browns: 8-8 Bengals: 3-13 AFC South Colts: 10-6 Texans: 9-7 Jaguars: 7-9 Titans: 6-10 AFC West Chargers: 11-5 Chiefs: 8-8 Raiders: 7-9 Broncos: 5-11 NFC East Eagles: 10-6 Cowboys: 9-7 Giants: 9-7 Redskins: 5-11 NFC North Packers: 11-5 Lions: 10-6 (wildcard) Bears: 8-8 Vikings: 6-10 NFC South Saints: 10-6 Falcons: 10-6 (wildcard) Bucs: 8-8 Panthers: 4-12 NFC West Rams: 9-7 Cardinals: 7-9 Seahawks: 6-10 49ers: 5-11 Playoffs #5 Ravens 20-17 #4 Colts #6 Jets 20-30 #3 Steelers #5 Falcons 30-20 #4 Rams #6 Lions 10-16 #3 Eagles Ravens 23-21 #1 Patriots Steelers 15-16 #2 Chargers Falcons 27-25 #1 Packers Eagles 17-23 #2 Saints Ravens 16-22 Chargers Falcons 26-17 Saints Falcons 24-20 Chargers Hey, it could be stranger. I was seriously thinking of picking the Lions to play in the Super Bowl. In fact, if Detroit’s running game hadn’t reverted to mediocrity this summer and first-round defensive tackle Nick Fairley hadn’t spent more time in a walking boot than bonding with Ndamukong Suh, I would have. The Lions are good enough to make the playoffs. But they’re too thin to win it all. So, Atlanta–San Diego. What’s not to like? Two top 10 quarterbacks, two top 10 defenses (going out on a limb with Atlanta, but I semi-believe), two adequate running games (going out on a limb with San Diego’s Ryan Mathews, but I do believe), two clubs that got better during a strange off-season. The Falcons and the Chargers aren’t the two best teams in the league as the season kicks off, but I think they will be when it ends...
Tegis Posted August 31, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted August 31, 2011 Broncos: 5-11 Seeing as we actually have a wicked pass-rush and a running game to support Orton, I think we'll have a winning season/8-8 this year. No playoffs though.
