Brad Friedel was on talksport this morning. They mentioned utd winning the title tonight against us, he said he hope that doesn't happen..

Comes across as a very decent human, can talk about the game very well. Would think he would make a good pundit when he eventually stops playing

From Portsmouth's OS...

Pompey have appointed Guy Whittingham as manager

The 48-year-old has been in caretaker charge at Fratton Park since November and was development coach prior to that.  He is also a member of the club’s Hall of Fame, having scored 99 league goals – including 42 in the 1992/93 campaign – in 177 appearances for the Blues.  Whittingham was part of the side that reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1992 and then went agonisingly close to winning promotion to the Premier League the following season.

He went on to play for Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday before returning to Pompey for a second spell in 1999.

Whittingham said: "I am proud and privileged to be asked to manage this great football club."

“I’d like to thank all the staff, who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much since I’ve been here.  I’m also grateful to the fans for sticking with us through everything. Now we want to give them a club they can be proud of again.”

New Pompey chairman Iain McInnes said: “We are delighted to have a character of Guy’s calibre in charge.  He understands the club and what we are trying to achieve and has shown in the past few months what he can do when he has the opportunity to work with a settled group of players.”

Arrest warrant for former Aston Villa and England footballer Lee Hendrie

Thursday, May 02, 2013

A JUDGE has ordered that Lee Hendrie be arrested and bought before him in court.

Following a failure to appear at a court hearing relating to his bankruptcy, a judge at Warwick Combined Court issued an arrest warrant against Lee Hendrie this week.

Court issues arrest warrant for Tamworth FC footballer Lee Hendrie

The former England and Aston Villa footballer, now 36, was made Bankrupt in 2012 after racking up debts with HM Revenue and Customs.

Nick Simmonds and Mark Sands of RSM Tenon were then appointed as Joint Trustees to deal with his affairs. Guy Thomas of Taylor Walton LLP is their lawyer.

The midfielder reportedly earned £millions playing for Aston Villa (earning £24,000 a week at the peak of his career) as well as Sheffield United, Leicester City and Blackpool. After a stint in Indonesia he now plays for Tamworth FC.

Guy Thomas of Taylor Walton LLP said “It’s unfortunate that the court has had to resort to an arrest warrant but people ignore Court orders at their peril.

"We are hopeful that this can still be quickly resolved. All bankrupts, no matter their job or status, have a duty to co-operate with insolvency proceedings.

"That duty can also extend to those that they did business with.

"The Trustee in bankruptcy has a duty to investigate the bankrupt’s affairs and their duty is to act in the interest of all creditors.

"If this helps to remind people of just how important those duties are and how extensive the powers that cover these situations are then maybe something positive will result from this”.

Guy Thomas is a corporate insolvency lawyer based in Taylor Walton’s Luton office and specialises in football finance.

Does a bit of punditry in the States I think. I've definitely seen him on one of the networks a few times

Well he went bankrupt last year so he needs to continue to get a good income someway.

Brad still has plenty of money, it was a technical bankrupcy related to his academies in the states
