Obviously this will need a poll adding to it by mods or whomever.

I think it's a reasonable thread to suggest, just looking at the General thread seems to point to very mixed views at best.

I'm not making a positive or negative stand point in this thread it just seems there is now the same need for this as there is for the Manager rating thread.

Is the General's thread the tip of the iceberg or the vocal minority? It's not a IN or OUT thread it's approval only.

Hah I wondered when this was going to crop up, it was only a matter of time :P

Right well, I've been behind the board since they got here and I can understand some of the decisions they've made but I must admit my faith is on the slide. There's been a lot of decisions made recently that I have really struggled to get my head around. I know that McCleish is the manager now and he will get my full support because I love the club, but I had to question the appointment process.

It came across to me that everyone was turning us down for whatever reason (probably explained with the lack of transfer funds and the sheer amount of players who have left leaving us with a thin squad) and we jumped on McCleish as soon as he became available. If this is true then it just makes us look a bit clueless. If we indeed did target McCleish as the number one target then you have to wonder whether or not we did tap him up and that our board's judgement is lacking. Add to that the fact we paid compensation, if we didn't do anything wrong then why did we pay up? If this is true then the board lied to us. Either way, in my opinion they don't come out looking good.

Honestly I find anyone who doubts Randy quite sad. We should be grateful to have him even if we don't make any signings this summer. The more fans wish for some rich Sheik to take the reins the more I fall out of live with the game.

I completely agree and I don't like the idea of someone throwing billions of money at a football club and buying their success like "you-know-who" but it isn't that black and white for me I'm afraid.

I was fully behind Randy and the board but a lot has gone on this past year. I feel a little lied to and let down. I'm not saying I want them out, Randy has done a lot for our club, but too many recent decisions have left me baffled. I'm just not as certain anymore, we'll see how the season progresses.

True I don't understand the managerial appointment but I do believe RL did it believing it to be in the clubs best interests. It will be a long time before we can make judgement on this.

I don't see the new prudence as evidence of him preparing to sell - just don't buy that. He isnt a public figure; that seems to irritate some on here but I personally wouldn't want it any other way.

It's disappointing that the bright future of five years ago is getting dimmer. Maybe Houllier was right with his assessment that we're a club aiming for 7th to 12th (or whatever he said). We don't have the turnover to compete with the top six if Randy's reluctance to match the investment he made during the MON years continues.

I like the General but I think his thread is now redundant. I was appalled at the club's PR campaign on McLeish's appointment.

I agree. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes he comes across as quite rude whenever someone expresses a negative yet valid assessment of recent activity. I can understand that he doesn't have an easy task and that he is obviously forbidden from talking about the stuff we all really want to know, and perhaps quite rightly so, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Can't imagine how anyone can doubt Mr Lerner's long term commitment to Villa + his wish to invest for success.

You did read about the new Reform Acquisitions Company he's registered, which names a bloke who specialises in selling assets as a director?

Yes. The  was meant to show my satirical intentions. But I think those last 3 glasses of red wine blunted my cutting edge. :P

Twas probabaly the 2 glasses of red I had that stopped me spotting it ;-)

I'll always question whoever is 'in charge' but I'm not sure whether we'll find ourselves someone much better (at least currently).

I most certainly am not in favour of some middle eastern Sheikh rocking up at VP - I'd be shocked and very disappointed were Mr Lerner to sell on that way.

I voted currently disapprove, which I wouldn't have dreamt of doing twelve months ago. However in the past year I feel the atitude of the Board has changed towards the fans, which is mostly from the Generals thread IMO. At the moment the General is the only barometer we have for measuring the attitude of the Board as the rest are so conspicuous by their absent.

I don't like what I am hearing from the manager or the General ATM! I know the happy clappers will slate me and tell me what wonders Randy et al have done. But at the end of the day as the General tells us all the time actions speak louder than words and I am worried by the latest actions TBH!

Hate the 'be glad, we could have worse chairman' its an argument that never wins for me. We could also have a chairman who invests in a squad keeping players happy, who does not employ people who are PR disasters, who does not think premiership experience amounts to two relegations, who will not be re-investing all of the money from two creative (now shit players...) back into the squad and who thinks good PR is to spout the tattoo crap through Mr 'drop and give me 500' to make the fans go doe eyed.
