POP QUIZ:

A few years ago, maybe 4 or 5 years, an album came out that was quite minimal.

It’s piano music, quite sparse, with song titles such as

You

Do

Me

(that’s three titles, not ‘you do me’)

Anybody got any idea who that artist might be?

My car plays files on a usb that the previous car couldn’t read, and I’ve ‘found’ a load of music from a few years ago that only has half the info. I’ve got track titles, but not artist.

Nils Frahm - Album title Screws released 2012

EDIT:

Tracklist

You 3:09

Do 3:05

Re 3:50

Mi 3:59

Fa 2:25

Sol 2:31

La 3:10

Si 3:24

Me 2:31

Brilliant, cheers.

I had the word ‘screwdriver’ in my head but didn’t add it as a clue.

@Seat68 I reckon Nils Frahms is fairly mainstream? Maybe not ‘pop’, but not way out there obscure made up shit.

No clue. Never heard that name to my knowledge.

Someone beat me to it. Yeah, Nils Frahm is a German artist on Erased Tapes records. If you're interested in similar artists, Ólafur Arnalds is an Icelandic artist who has collaborated with him extensively. Also, Jacob Pavek is an American artist from Minnesota who releases material in the same sort of vein.

New Anaal Nathrakh album.

As beautifully brutal as always.

This is very good. Listening to it properly and another great album. Libidinous (A Pig with C**** In Its Eyes) is particularly "fun" and obviously is the idea for the NSFW original album cover.

Debut Album from Adrian Sherwood's elder daughter, Denise Sherwood. This Road

It's On-U Sound in all but name. Dad's producing, the collaborators are the usual gang

But this isn't Reggae (well some of it is), nor is it Industrial. The best genre for this I recon, is Trip Hop (ish)

This album is quite beautiful

After the nod by @bickster I got Zam by Frankie & The Witch Fingers which is pretty epic.

now listening to their latest, which I feel is even better!

Well worth a listen if you like the likes of Oh Sees and Ty Segall.

I've had it on a couple of times today, agree its better than Zum. Still very much in Oh Sees / Ty Segall territory but it's a belter of an album

Adding the collection to Discogs, I'm currently in the Cs. You won't find a copy of this for less than £50. Seminal shoegaze classic apparently. First pressing with bonus 12"

Chapterhouse and their debut LP - Whirlpool

This is the sort of shit we own that I didn’t buy. I may need to look in the attic.
