You can grab their new sampler for nowt, as well. I came to it via the Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson/K-Scope Records route, and the customer reviews on Amazon were almost uniformly positive - to the point of "best album of the last fifty years" level of enthusiasm. The descriptions - melodic progressive rock with strings - sounded right up my street, and I was really expecting something special. But, while it is certainly the sort of thing I like, I found it to be mostly poor material disguised in massive overproduction. Every track sounds the same - medium-paced, arpeggieted acoustic guitar riff, over-busy drumming, cliched lyrics, histrionic vocals masquerading as "passionate", all drowned in syrupy strings. Btw, Steven Wilson helped produce the previous record and it could certainly be heard. He also said it was one of the best albums he's ever been a part of so maybe you might like it. Electronic, electric, acoustic, Rock, Folk, classical and deeply experimental. It might be a fraction of a second, it might be 10 minutes plus.
