Seat68
Now listening to the new album by The Turnpike Troubadours, initial listen and I thought it was excellent, replaying it now and I feel I was hasty, its OK but nowhere near the quality of their last album. A little too minimalist for me, but I'll never forget how amazed i was by Sakamoto's synth work on Japan's "Taking Islands in Africa" when I first heard it 35 years ago. I still love that track, mainly because of his contribution, and it still sounds innovative even if the overall sound is a little dated. They were still putting out great stuff then, though it's not as well known as the earlier work. BTW, if you haven't heard it before, check out another great song titled, "Add it Up" on the Violent Femmes first album that i posted above. 1
