Now listening to the new album by The Turnpike Troubadours, initial listen and I thought it was excellent, replaying it now and I feel I was hasty, its OK but nowhere near the quality of their last album.

I listen to this stuff when I want to decompress or sleep. I love it.

A little too minimalist for me, but I'll never forget how amazed i was by Sakamoto's synth work on Japan's "Taking Islands in Africa" when I first heard it 35 years ago.   I still love that track, mainly because of his contribution, and it still sounds innovative even if the overall sound is a little dated.

I carried around a guitar pick for years that i got when Davies tossed it into the crowd at the end of a show in '80 or '81.  They were still putting out great stuff then, though it's not as well known as the earlier work.  BTW, if you haven't heard it before, check out another great song titled, "Add it Up" on the Violent Femmes first album that i posted above.

Just been to a record shop in Burton and got 7 cds for £15. Got myself a few risk cds because they were cheap.

Beach Boys, Pet Sounds

Santana, Jam Live

Bob Dylan, Blonde On Blonde

Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited

Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Live Rust

Fleetwood Mac, Boston Blues, Live

Fleetwood Mac, Love That Burns, The Blues Years

The two Mac albums are the Peter Green years.
