TrentVilla Posted June 4, 2011 Author Moderator Share Posted June 4, 2011 The club seem to take alot of advice from Graham Taylor.. Do they? Such as? I heard he was spoken to after the MON departure. Not sure if he recommended Houllier or not..But I do remember his name popping up at the time. Something like, the club have taken alot of advice from different advisers..Graham Taylor's name was mentioned.. I've no recollection of that. TrentVilla Posted June 4, 2011 Author Moderator Share Posted June 4, 2011 Good for you^^ ??? Not sure what that is supposed to mean really or what your point is. I say that because I don't recall Graham Taylor's name being mentioned in either instance, I recall there being talk of advice having been taken but I'm pretty sure Taylor wasn't named. So I remain unconvinced that the club seem to take advice of him as was suggested.
KT3AVFC
if its mcclaren i will not be happy with lerner and the board that would be an unacceptable appointment. give ancelotti until unday night to amke a decision if he says no lets go for jol Jol was in charge of the biggest club in Holland and fails to win the league, McLaren does win the league managing the Dutch equivalent of Blackburn and yet you would throw your toys out the pram if McLaren was appointed!!! McLaren has been criticised for his failure at Wolfsburg but I've seen plenty of shouts for Klinnsman or Van Gaal who have both somehow managed to turn by far the biggest club in Germany into also rans. It's about time people got over the spell at England and the dodgy video. McLaren wouldn't be my first choice but I've no doubt that he would do a good job somewhere in the PL and if the likes of Ancelotti or Moyes don't fancy the job then I wouldn't have a problem if McLaren was appointed. Moorski
The way England are playing could see Redknapp in that job a year sooner than he expected, which would open up a vacancy at Spurs, which would not help our cause.

I'm not saying I want McClaren btw, I'm merely saying he is still better than either Houllier or Benitez. Benitez would be the worst appointment, as to who I want? I'm not really sure, just not Benitez

alienvillan
If Ancelotti wouldn't come I'd be pretty open to Martinez. He'd be a good candidate for continuing to build the passing revolution at Villa Park that Houllier started. Once you've improved the players' technique and got them used to passing and moving it would be nicely set up for someone like Martinez to take them further. +1 What is there about Martinez's two 16th place finishes at Wigan that makes you think he could take us further? It's those two 16th place finishes at Wigan, his first two seasons as a Premier League manager, at a small club. And from what I've seen he wants to play attacking and entertaining football. He is a promising young manager in my eyes. I would like it to be Ancelotti, Deschamps or Moyes but I can't see that happening. I believe they want to manage bigger clubs, or London clubs. Hughes, Jol, McClaren and Benitez are all good managers but I don't think they could/would build an "empire" at Villa. They might do MON's 6-6-6 but no more and nothing special (of course I might be wrong?). And I already know these guys, Martinez could be something different, something new, at a bigger club. And I don't think he would do much worse than Hughes or Jol. He also seems to be a "nice" guy (ethos and spirit of the club) and maybe/hopefully (more) loyal too. But I'm not obsessed, I just want a new manager, Ancelotti, Hughes or Martinez. Or even McClaren?

He'd certainly pick it up easily. God, the guy makes me feel angry even talking about him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9AwIVNFF-o sums him up!! steaknchips
Before we appointed Houllier the club said; A statement from the club said: "We have thoroughly researched potential candidates and have reached out to a variety of contacts we have within the game for advice and guidance." Now Im not 100% here...But im pretty sure I heard somewhere that Graham Taylor is amongst one of those contacts within the game, that the club remain in contact with.. If anyone in the know could confirm this I would be grateful..Because like I said im not 100%, its just something I read/heard yet just put to the back of my mind.
