New Star Soccer is ace. Think Football manager coupled with Fifa be a star mode, The Sims and a quirky subutteo style gameplay.

Think this review sums it up for me :

My wife asked me why I yelled "YES" while in the toilet (I'd just scored the winner for Dorchester in the 88th minute to go top of the Conference South table). This game is superb! Like role playing Subbuteo, totally hooked :)

Yeah I had new star soccer on my old phone. Put a ridiculous amount of time into it. The scary thing was, I was only into somethig like my 6th or 7th season, which would meake me 24 or 25 on the game.

Assuming you can go on to your mid 30s or beyond I had a long long time to keep playing!

(although by that point I'd basically done everything so not sure how long the addictiveness would have lasted)

Superb game though. Addictive as hell!

PPSSPP emulator with Final Fantasy and Valkyria Chronicles II at the moment.

PSP on a phone FTW.

Downside is it's eating my battery!

How you finding VC2? Shame the third game will never be localised :(

VC2 has been great so far. Up to April and changing the classes. Not as good as the 1st, but one of those that I can't believe never caught on.....

The story pales in to comparison with the first, and although the gameplay suffers from the inability to make the levels as big as on the PS3, the core of the gameplay is there, which I found very enjoyable. It's a good little title. Valkyria Chronicles though was for me the best PS3 exclusive, bloody cracker of a game. I've mentioned it on here before, as much as an appreciation of the anime art style may be required to get on with it, it really is worth a go. It told a story and presented the characters, even the supporting cast, in a wonderful way, really drew you in and had you caring about them. God forbid you ever got any of them killed ;___;

It was also notable for the inclusion of Skies of Arcadia characters! :D

I'd recommend New Star Soccer as well. It's pretty cheap and kept me entertained for hours.

As others have said, I like the little side games like the Casino and buying lifestyle products as well.

The key is buying decent boots iirc. Get the best ones and you score way more

Now that's that out of the way.

The game is Happy Glass

Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans this thing is addictive.  I don't play many mobile games, but I gave it a chance and I finished the 500 levels in an unhealthily short amount of time.

It's one of those 'draw a line to affect the physics' type games, where you direct the flow of water into an empty glass.  The less you have to draw in order to fill the glass, the more stars you get for the level.

Once you start ...

My current is Angry Birds 2. Not very original but it's good. Bit overcomplicated these days.

Recently I've done literally everything there is to do on Mario Run. Brilliant game.

And I also put a lot of time into "Score! Hero". Really good at first but got a bit tired well before I completed it. Great idea but some really irritating quirks eventually turned me off.

It's sad looking back at this thread and seeing how great New Star Soccer was.

And then overnight it became a horror show of microtransactions and gameplay balanced to hoover cash out of your pocket.

My pet hate is those smartphone games where you can only play for a certain amount of times or attempts. Then you have to wait an hour or a day or whatever until you can play again. Obviously geared purely towards getting you to pay for another go.

Infuriating.

I don't mind microtransactions on smartphone games in general. They're often free and have to make money somehow. But the ones that are purely there to exploit you really piss me off. It's a very fine line.
