Mon never brought him for us, even though he shoud've... Why now? Especially when they have fetcher who is a goal scorer already.

Maybe because they are still struggling to score and Sunderland's fans might want him back?

Well we've not exactly been on much of an upward spiral ourselves since his arrival have we?

FWIW I remember Marcus Allbacks goals keeping us in the league way back in the 01/02 season but he never got this much recognition.

1 in 2 makes it sound wonderful. Lets remind ourselves here that four games that he started in a row so far this season he scored bugger all.

The following two games he scored a goal in each where we only drew 1-1 with Norwich and lost 4-1 to Southampton.

He shines against the little teams but never against the big guns is another thing to note.

And 1 in 2 goals ratio? is that this season? because last season he played 27 games in all competitions for us and scored only 10 goals (only 5 of them goals were in games we won!)

Very much over rated and sounds like he has a very high opinion of himself so it is proberly the right time for this chap to get out the door and we receive our double figure sum for him while we can.

3 more games and it will cost us another 6m. Id rather that money be spent elsewhere in the squad rather than his former club as for what it would cost to play Bent in a few games would be much better invested in a quality signing for the same money who we'd have for a few years!

.

Bent is quality and apparently doesn't want to leave and the rumour is 3m not 6m.

Yep putting Bowery on the bench instead of Bent suggests that if Bent is in the Matchday squad it counts as a game in the contract wording with Sunderland hence why Lambert has been told not to even bench him. Though he's on 47 so could use him 2 more times before he goes in Jan.

Mystery man said at the time it would practically need us to win the league for the add-ons to be triggered. Adding 3 or 4 million for a measly 50 appearances would be a shockingly idiotic deal on our part. Even if that BS were true, 3-4 million is nothing compared to what relegation would cost us.

hmm yet his goal ratio seems slightly better than gabbys? 1 in 33 league games?

it is like plaing with 10 men if he doesnt score? so he doesnt distract defenders, make runs pull players away from others to score, he justs stands still and waits on the goal line to score?

just because he plays differently to beteke doesnt mean he does nothing if he doesnt score, it means you are not capable of appreciating HIS work rate happens to be a different style to other players.

if guzan isnt saving a ball is it like playing with 10 men? no, he is organising the defence, ditributing the ball AND making saves. he doesnt run around or do press ups and sit ups while the ball is the other end of the pitch, does that make him lazy and not trying?

no doubt you though greaves was shit, lineker a joke, ian rush utter w@nk and so forth after all they were the same type of player as bent

Whether it's £3m or £6m is irrelevant as it will cost us £10m to pay him off if we sell him

Eh ? If he's sold we have to pay him his contract in full ?

Not sure it works like that

Or he's already sold and is being wrapped in cotton wool

Correct

Whether it's £3m or £6m is irrelevant as it will give us £10m if he is not played and not 4-7m

Fixed* but correct again. :P

Gabby is a product of this club and didn't cost 18m but I didn't mention Gabby.

I didn't mention his work rate but that also does appear to be in question at the moment aswell. I was more commenting on the shiny stats regarding him that people are painting and merely pointing out that there not that glamarous reading.

no doubt you though greaves was shit, lineker a joke, ian rush utter w@nk and so forth after all they were the same type of player as bent

Totally irrelevant to this topic.

to be fair, if he has already been sold, then f**k wrapping him up in cotton wool, lets use him to our full advantage, who cares then if he gets injured, hes not ours, we need goals and to stay up!

I think you will find it does - he signed a contract for 4 years and if he does nothing to break it is entitled to payment in full. Normally some sort of deal is reached. Remember when we were going to sign Dunne there was a delay - for such a situation.

can i point out that after reading norwich fans two pennies on this topic, this sort of stance seems very much a PL trait, going cold turkey on some of the best players at the club for seemingly no real reason, then bringing them back in out of the blue, and when they come back in they are fully-fit and raring to go, more determined as their ego is wounded and they don't want to be sat in the reserves again. if he is doing this to make Bent more motivated and determined, and a harder worker on and off the pitch, then it's a great idea, as long as it works.
