ROMAN BEZUS (Vorskla Poltava)

Second striker who can also operate from midfield, Bezus's stock has been steadily rising since making the move to Poltava from hometown club Kremin Kremenchuk back in 2009.

Initially limited to cameo appearances, Bezus's knack for cropping up with goals from the bench earnt him a reputation as a super-sub, though with his knack for finding threatening positions in and around the box he is fast becoming a regular fixture in the Zeleno-Bili starting line-up.

Awarded an introduction to the Ukrainian national youth team thanks to his form last season, Bezus quickly progressed from the U-20's to the U-21's (bagging goals against both Belarus and Germany along the way) and will be hoping to make his full international debut in the near future; a cause to which his positive start to the current campaign will have helped no end.

Glentoran fans will have caught a glimpse of Bezus's scoring ability in this season's Europa League qualifiers, with Vorskla Poltava having dumped both them and Sligo Rovers out of the competition. Bezus has also bagged two goals in 175 minutes of Premier Liga game-time thus far and will no doubt be attracting interest from bigger clubs if his impressive strike rate continues.

Bezus got picked up by Dynamo Kiev back in January, having won the Ukrainian equivalent of the Young Player of the Year award for 11/12.  He's also broken into the Ukraine squad proper and bagged his first full international goal.

DENISS RAKELS

Deniss_Rakels-AFI.jpg

Teenage Latvian wunderkind, his 18 goals in 26 games for FK Liepājas* Metalurgs caught the attention of a host of European clubs last year (including the likes of Rubin Kazan and Werder Bremen). Zagłębie Lubin decided to take the plunge in January, will be interesting to see if he can fulfill his undoubted potential.

*I don't know how to pronounce that either.

Sadly, it does not look like Rakels will make the grade at Lubin.  He's been loaned out to Polish second-tier outfit GKS Katowice for two seasons running, and though these loans spells have been successful for him, if he doesn't break into the Lubin squad in the next season he'll be out of contract and looking for a new employer.  Still, at only 20 years old it's likely he at least won't have to return to Latvia to find a club.

Fun Fact - the first "s" in Deniss is silent.
