He doesn't come out wide enough, which allows the opposition winger too much space IMO. I agree with this as he was way too central at times. That was a tough test today though as Fulham are good in wide areas as were Wolves last week. Next week won"t be as tough and then Taylor is back. I think overall given he has played out of position the last 2 weeks he has done well.

Jareth Posted October 22, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted October 22, 2017 Just one more game Alan, don’t be shit against sha and you may leave the villa at the seasons end with your head held moderately high.
terrytini
I don't rate him but prefer him at LB his wrong footedness seems to have curtailed those ball losing, move destroying, cross-to-nobody runs he makes too often.
TRO
He is good at somethings and not at others you can go through the whole yeam like that. its not easy to come to a sensible conclusion.
Eastie
Done much better than I expected in the last 2 games - let’s hope he does well against blues too
lapal_fan
Don't want to labour the point, but when they nearly equalised (great save by Johnstone) it was because he was too high up the pitch and couldn't get back. Left Conor out to dry too who tried to cover. Played okay other than that. He needs to concentrate on being solid rather than trying to be spectacular.

He's always played really narrow as a fullback. I guess he just backs himself for pace so is happy to let the winger have the ball wide rather than allow him the chance to cut inside of him. But I noticed how narrow he played years ago. Once you see it you can't unsee it

If memory serves me correctly (although I was row 38 in the Trinity and 5 beers in by then) It was one of his badly judged sliding tackles around the halfway line, which took him completely out of the game and left an acre of space for their player to run and cross into the box. I cannot imagine that RDL Bree or one of the Youth players couldnt do a job without exposing us like Hutton does. Hutton is not only a very very bad footballer, he is irresponsible towards the team too. I‘ll be more happy when he‘s gone than Richards, because at least Richards doesnt get the chance to show how shyte he is. Hutton gets the chance at RB RWB & LB to show what a liability he is.
dn1982
He's better at LB as he doesn't bomb forward as much. He's lazy getting back when he loses the ball he never sprints back he just jogs. Blues is his type of game.

Blowing out of his arse, head gone, concentration gone. Just diving in, not thinking about what he waa doing.
Jareth Posted October 24, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted October 24, 2017 Alan leaves at the end of the season, it could be so sweet if we also get promoted and gabby also departs.
